Install problem(s)
I am trying to install R onto an Altix system running SuSE Enterprise
Linux 9 SP3 with SGI ProPack 4 SP3. I end up with this error no matter
what I try. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be appreciated!

[CentOS-announce] Release for CentOS Linux 7 (1503 ) on x86_64

That is a matter of opinion. In my opinion, assigning sub-version
numbers to what was originally intended to be, by Red Hat, quarterly
updates (almost Service Packs, if you will, much like SGI's numbering of
their Foundation and ProPack products for the Altix server line) is what

UC centos 5 with xfs root?
There are 3 issues here: Grub, the kernel and RedHat.
1) Grub won't run in an XFS /boot partition, but will happily run
xfs_state1_5 to boot from an XFS root partition.
2) The kernel has supported XFS quite happily since at least 2005, I am
looking at an SGI Propack 4 manual of February that year and it states
that SLES 9 SP 1 contains the kernels with XFS support.
3) May be an issue.
I'm just closing down an old Altix (2004 vintage) and that has always
run XFS for everything except /boot. In the early days it used RedHat,
