A long digression on packages

Then Ben Bolker (who helped me to write the axis.break function) asked if I would be willing to include some of his plotting functions and almost immediately after that Sander Oom kindly donated the soil texture plotting function in the same way. I could procrastinate no longer. There are now about 500 packages on CRAN. Some are focused, covering a particular area well, easy for the prospective user to discover their potential usefulness, while others are less so. Test environments?
Hi folks, When we first started talking about Shorewall post-Tom, a few people offered to help with testing. Would those people please raise their hands again? :-) I''m investigating Nicolas Helleringer''s recent message on shorewall-users (http://lists.shorewall.net/pipermail/shorewall-users/2005-June/018898.html), and a good test environment would come in really handy,

[LLVMdev] Implementing stack frames/vaargs
Hi, After several months of procrastination I'm at the point where I'd like to implement vaargs in all the code generators that do not support it yet. As a little background, I'm putting together a version of newlib, startup code, linker command files, soft-flt (if needed), and compiler-rt that I'm building for the llvm targets supported by qemu. I build programs and run them

icecast cvs patch
This is *nothing* major, just a minor tweak that makes FreeStream's rebroadcast system work smoother. It is a patch for icecast CVS( checked out at 20040505 20:00UTC), That simply adds to format_vorbis.c the ability to read more vorbis_comment information (namely; comment, info and length) Hopefully this can be useful. -- Justin Zeigler, a.k.a. ogg123 patch for title's file.
This is *nothing* major, just a minor tweak that make FreeStream's rebroadcast system work smoother. A patch for ogg123 that is an update of Matt London's patch[1] for vorbis-tools-1.0 release to vorbis-tools CVS 20040505 20:00UTC, it enables a "-g $file" option that will send read vorbis comments to $file. Hopefully this can be useful. [1] http://pkl.net/~matt/ogg123-ml1.patch

Next libvorbis release?
Hi all, Any ideas when the next libvorbis release will be? I'm particularly interested in this fix: r13571 | erikd | 2007-08-19 19:36:24 +1000 (Sun, 19 Aug 2007) | 1 line Make vorbis comment functions const correct. with which I get a warning when compiling libsndfile. The configure.ac for libsndfile I'm about to release currently depends on the SVN version of libvorbis so

Question/concern about bsm auditing option on solaris
Hello, I downloaded and compiled the Mar 2, 2005 snapshot and compiled it with bsm auditing for solaris turned on. I've been noticing about a dozen or so of the following messages per day now. Not sure exactly what it is, or if it is a big issue. Mar 3 13:46:10 machine_name sshd[15298]: [ID 800047 auth.crit] fatal: mm_request_send: write If it matters it is running on solaris 8
