Don't understand why "process_node_status_request: "
...is currnetly on a 172.16.12.x subnet. How can I trace this
down? Why would the server look to access a 192.168 subnet? Can someone
just point me in the right direction?

process_node_status_request and nmbd log file
Hi,
I have samba V1.9.18 running on a solaris V5.4 and it seems to be working
ok, but I'm getting the following messages printed several times in the
nmb.log file
process_node_status_request: status request for name *<00>.1701 from IP
158.152.154.139 on subnet UNICAST_SUBNET - name not found.
This IP address isn't related to our site so I was wondering if I have got
something missconfigured, the testparm programs seem to think things are ok
though.

Strange samba problem with Win XP
...aiting a long time. But it lost
the shares after say 15/20 min. More over a mapped samba drive
Immediately disconnected after restart !!! I am really really
confused. All Linux clients are running so well but Win-XP. I have
checked the nmbd.log and found errors like

Hi all
Im pretty new to Samba.
I would like to use Samba as a PDC, for some funny reason I cant browse
the network. I cant find other machines on the network.
The server says its a PDC, but my win clients (win2000) says its not.

WINS question
Morning everyone.
Just have a quick question regarding WINS on samba-3.0.3.
Running FreeBSD 4.9, with samba-3.0.3 built from the ports tree.
The only thing I needed from this particular server at this time, was it to
function as a WINS server for our company.
I went ahead and did the basics, as setting the netbios name as well as
saying 'yes' to wins support.
However, I cannot tell if

Trust relationship failed...
I'm hoping someone can give me a hand in figuring out this problem, I have
seen several other similar problems in searching, but nothing that exactly
matches what I am seeing here.
I have recently migrated a client from a Samba server running 2.2.7 (Redhat
9) to 3.0.2 (Fedora 1). The samba installation is running as a PDC for 5
Win XP workstations and was working perfectly prior to the

My Network Places not finding Samba server
I assume I am doing(or not) something extremely simple that is causing my
XP boxes to not see my linux(FC4) Samba server in the 'My Network Places'.
I can access the shares by 'Map Network Drive' and using the IP
address(192.168.0.1).
I have set the workgroup name 'DAMEN' in the lmhosts file.
192.168.0.1 DAMEN
I have set the workgroup in the smb.conf file.

Multiple usernames and strange log
...their own account
in the server (Unix running samba). They share another
account (say netmen). They need access to their own account
and to the common account (at the same time).
Does anybody know how to achieve that on Win95?
The other problem is related to the log in log.nmb:

Am I being hacked?
I am seeing a BUNCH of these type of messages in my log.nmb file. the IP
address varies, with only 2 different ones showing up.
process_node_status_request: status request for name *<00> from IP 206.139.7.109
on subnet REMOTE_BROADCAST_SUBNET - name not found.
The other IP address is 192.68.22.214
Unfortunately, the log does not have time stamps, so I don't know when
this is happening. Neither of these networks are mine (an nslookup show...

Help with making samba-3.0.0 PDC and adding a XP/Pro client (and domain user accounts)
