__MSBROWSE__ inconsistency
..._name: Failed to send packet trying to release name
WORKGROUP<1d> IP x.x.x.7
4) samba kept __MSBROWSE__ registered, but thought it was not MB.
5) the other pc's were confused, asking samba for the browse list, and
samba kept reporting:

nmbd/nmbd_incomingdgrams.c:process_get_backup_list_request(696)
process_get_backup_list_request: domain list requested for workgroup
WORKGROUP and I am not a local master browser.
this (log full of the above errors) continued until today when I found
out that "smbclient -L samba" told me samba believed that another pc was
the master browser....

oplock problems
We are running samba 2.2.3a ( for about 3000 users ) on HP/UX 11.11
fileservers.
Our customers are complaining about slow response on the opening/closing

In the samba log file we see the following messages :

...to my NT workstation (MSCRAMER-LAPTOP, with addr 172.16.3.136) *IT

backup_list_request
Hi,
I am still bit of a novice to SAMBA. However, I feel that I have it up and
running well except for the following error:
[2000/02/03 22:32:48, 0] nmbd/nmbd_incomingdgrams.c:(703)
process_get_backup_list_request: Invalid name type 0 - should be 0x1b or 0x1d.
Has any one seen this error before? What does it mean and how might it be fixed?
Thanks for your help in advance!!
John

string overflow in rpcclient add "printer" driver command
...o.
The error, I think, is in source/rpcclient/rpcclient.c next_command function in pstrcpy() call.
I tried to fix changing the line definition in source/include/pstring.h for:
#define PSTRING_LEN 2048 /* was 1024 */
but I get compiler errors like:
nmbd/nmbd_incomingdgrams.o: In function `process_get_backup_list_request':
nmbd_incomingdgrams.c:(.text+0x7db): undefined reference to `__unsafe_string_function_usage_here_size_t__'
The registry in ntdrivers.tdb is not complete too:
# tdbdump /var/cache/samba/ntdrivers.tdb | grep "My Driver Name"
key(36) = "DRIVERS/W32X86/3/My Driver Name 001\0...
