Some more hardware and E1 questions
...'ve seen people having problem with HP server, I havn't looked at it at all. What experience do you have with the alternatives above? Which would you recommend? And another question at the same time; what's really E1? How is E1 devices connected? Seems like regular Cat5 cables, but it problably ian't? If anyone's using Adit 600, did they send all cables required for connecting to the FXS channels? Seems like a very unique "plug" on the side of Adit. Thanks! BR Daniel Nystr?m

Ellipse ASR-Model Report Descriptor tree
...fine... as expected ;-) But changes occured on the delayed shutdown procedure after the generation of the FSD message. The USB analyzer shows : - that the UPS_WAKEDELAY (0x840056) and UPS_GRACEDELAY (0x840057) pages were linked to another Report ID as for previous Ellipse model. ---> This is problably normal. I think these models have another mapping. - that the programmed value was 0 ( not foreseen ) instead of those written in hidups.h . Therefore, the UPS cut off the power supply as soon as programmed. Is a report descriptor tree available anywhere, just to be sure we are pointing to th...

formula(model.frame(..)) is misleading
Dear Martin, Since no one else has picked up on this, I?ll take a crack at it: The proposal is to define the S3 class of model-frame objects as c(?model.frame?, ?data.frame?) (not the formal class of these objects, even though this feature was coincidentally introduced in S4). That?s unlikely to do harm, since model frames would still ?inherit? data.frame methods. It's possible that some

Online update functionality
Hi all, I was thinking about extending the functionality of my app with a online update functionality. Maybe it is a bad idea, I like to hear your opinion. I have in mind something like the following: - upload zip to server with new app version; - unzip file to server problably save it to some releases folder - overwrite my app sources in production - migrate database - restart my SCGI process to activate the changes I am aware of the existence of Capistrano, but I prefer this approach where it is integrated with the application, part of the application. I am also only...

Can I run both R and Python through Emacs
..."C-c |" The whole buffer can be evaluated via "C-c C-c" .... I don't know which XEmacs version you have running ("M-x version") on which platform, I just tried it quickly here using XEmacs 21.4.13 on i586-pc-win32 and XEmacs 21.4.17 on i686-pc-cygwin. But this is problably not a direction the help-mailing list of R should pursue. Hey, i occasionally have this problem.. and someone who read my howto seems to always ahve it.. so if anyone (Lionel Ulmer) could take a look into it: ok, opengl mode, in halflife (problable other things) - someitmes the mosue pointer appears in the center of the screen... it happens to me when i have minimized hl or esacped out and back into it - doesnt happen when i first start it (from command line - strieght into a game)... for this other person, for some reason hl minimizes its...

rsync acl support
...t know how many people are actually using it because it has to be turned on via a command line parameter). The patch doesn't look so bad. It basically uses the generic ACL wrapper code from Samba and adds some glue code. I haven't had too much time so I didn't look into the details. It problably needs a cleanup but it seems to be in a good shape. Since I saw that ACLs were on the rsync TODO list I want to ask: What do you think needs to be done to get ACLs integrated into samba without an external patch?

The issue is that once I do get it mounted, I have problems when moving files. For some reason, the gid of any of my files that are across the mount shows up as 4294967294: [dagon:~/scratch] aad% touch /private/var/automount/Network/TALLTREE/LOVECRAFT/slash/t...

formula(model.frame(..)) is misleading
...SV4 (or SV3, where model.frame was introduced), but S+ 8.3 (based on SV4) puts the class "model.frame" on model.frame()'s return value but has no methods (in the default packages) for class "model.frame". Perhaps that is why R omitted the class. However, S+ 8.3's (and problably S's) formula.data.frame did look for a "terms" attribute of a data.frame before making up an additive formula based on the column names of a data.frame: Splus-8.3> formula.data.frame function(object) { if(length(tms <- attr(object, "terms")))...

Newbie Questions
I've been doing a lot of reading over the last few weeks on Asterisk, and will be implementing a test system this week to play with. I've got two questions in regards to the ideal implementation for our company. First, has anyone written any drivers to interface with proprietary phones? Specifically we have a comdial system and if we could use our existing 35 phones instead of having to

Firewall.routing configuration problems
Hi, I am trying to set up a linux box to act as a router for my college. There are two different types of users; students and conference guests, and they have IPs statically assigned by DHCP, from separate ranges (but they are on the same subnet). The students go out onto an academic connection (via eth0), and conference guests go out on an ADSL line (via eth3). eth1 and eth2 are configured for

Hi There, I am also trying to do the same for my network. I have two links from different ISPs and I want to configure a failover and load balancing Linux router. I am facing same problem here, that how to detect link failure and let Linux box switch the gateway. I know it works when the first gateway is physically down and not reachable. But what to do if my link is up but there is problem

Bug#295560: logcheck: Please include filename when reporting "invalid regular expression"
Package: logcheck Version: 1.2.34 Severity: wishlist I have a couple of home-made logcheck ignore files, and happened to have one unescaped (and unmatched) `(' in one of the filter lines. Because of this, cron sent a mail with the body "grep: Invalid regular expression" - the subject is the command in the "2 * * * *" line in /etc/cron.d/logcheck, of course. It would be
