Sort 1-column dataframe with rownames
Hi, I have a 1-column dataframe with rownames and I want to sort it based on the single column. The typical procedure that is recommended in diverse posts is to use order in the index. But that "destroys" my dataframe structure. Probabaly it is a very simple solution. Here is a short reproducable example: x <- c(1,3,51,2,34,44,12,33,2,8) df <- data.frame(x) rownames(df) <-

wondershaper
Hi, I just installed wondershapper 1.1a on my ipcop firewall box. I have roadrunner cable with a ftp server setup. My download speed is 2mbit (I get 225 KBytes) and my upload is 384kbit (I send at 43 KBytes). What should the settings in wshaper? I can ping yahoo.com at 90msec with little traffic.....and at around 220msec with full upload traffic. Mark

Weird quirk with ingress policing
Hi, I notice that if two or more existing connections match an ingress policing filter, the input bandwidth does not get evenly divided up between the n connections. Kinda like litters of baby animals, where the stronger babies get more access to the mothers teats and grow up bigger and faster than their siblings. The only workaround that''s working for me is to set explicit ingress

problems with garchFit
Hi all, I post it on both r-help and r-finance since I don't know where is most appropriate for this topic. Sorry if it bothers you. I did garch fitting on S&P500 monthly returns with garchFit from fSeries. I got same coefficients from all cond.dist except normal. I thought that is probabaly usual for the data. But when I play with it, I got another question. I plot skew normal with

ices 0.3 seg fault
Please try a stable version of LAME. I don't really know what to do with this backtrace. It would also help immensely if you could reproduce the crash reliably (eg on the same song). using external authentication to validate samba users
Hi, Is there any way to use an external program to validate users' passwords? It would be something like an exec command that would return the authentication result. What I'm willing is to be able to authenticate a samba user against a radius server. Why? Because I get to use tokens (one life time password) against different realms. Has anybody an idea? Thank you -------------- next

strange speed of mkfs Centos vs. Debian
Hi, I'm testing a storage system and different network settings and I'm faced with a strange phenomen. Doing a mkfs.ext4 on the centos server lasts 11 minutes. The same mkfs.ext4 command on the debian installation is done in 20 seconds. It is formatting a 14 TB 10Gbit ISCSI Target. It is the same server. Centos and debian are installed on different internal harddisks. Any

Hiding a network printer
I want to hide a printer that's connected to a Centos 6 printer server to prevent it showing up on some of the other computers on the local network. Using system-config-printer, putting the IP address of the computer that I want to hide the printer from into the Access Control window for that printer doesn't work since it apparently wants a user name, not an IP address. How can I specify

Slightly offtopic: IRC channel archives
Hi all. I fear I''m slightly offtopic with this question, but I''ll keep it short: who is (or feels) responsible for the #lartc irc-channel in oftc.net? I''d appreciate if that person would get in contact with me (off-list) in order to discuss some ideas I have. Thanks in advance.
