Caller ID with BT CD50
Hi All, Having searched the archives, I can see there has been much discussion at various points regarding capture of caller id information from good old BT. If I understand correctly, it seems that not only do the drivers not currently support it, but my X101P possibly/probably can't do it anyway due to hardware? So, that leaves me with the modem route, which seems more and more unlikely,

Matching Caller ID against a database of knowncallers
Hi, I use a simple script to query a 2 table's in a MySQL database. This is called using AGI. The first one has got about 200 rows in it each one is a caller ID number and a name. If I get a match then I set CLI to "name <number>" The second table has over 10,000 rows in it. It has all the telephone exchanges in the UK in it with the prefixes for the exchange. If I

Using the limit action on a DNAT rule to prevent DoS attackson a specific port
Hi there. I''m reading and reading through the doc''s and previous posts, but cannot seem to find what I''m looking for. I want to create a rule that prevents DoS and maybe even DDoS attacks against a specific port. The current rule looks like this (the PORT''s and IP''s are dummies of course): #ACTION SOURCE DEST

noob question
Hi list, thank you for Shorewall :) I''m trying to get a simple config to work but i can''t seem to work out how to gain access via ssh to the protected remote machine. But that doesn''t surprise me really as i have just spend well over an hour to find how to limit the lograte AND fill in the logburst in shorewall.conf. I have specified a logfile (not messages) in

Files get created as BUILTIN\administrators
Hi All, I've got a problem on a Samba Active Directory domain controller. This is the third controller in our network, and the only one with this problem. When I try to create a file, it is created with this persmissions: -rwxrwxr-x+ 1 BUILTIN\administrators users 0 dec 2 08:28 test* On the other machines, it gets created as dirk.users, which is how I would like it to work. I am

Shorewall Development Schedule
As Shorewall reaches maturity, it seems unlikely that the pace of development typical of the past 9 years will be sustained. Over that time, major releases have occurred approximately once per year; the last major release (4.4) was in August 2009. I do not currently have an active 4.5 development branch so it is very unlikely that we will see a 4.6 release this year. Going forward, I would

RCSS problems
Hi List! Following http://rcss.rubyforge.org/files/README.html, I''m trying to get RCSS to work with Rails. The rcss command itself works fine, but when trying to access http://localhost:3000/rcss/test.css I always get "Unknown action - No action responded to test.css", which I don''t understand since the route and controller are in place. Anyway, hopefully this is

Port Redirection
Hi Everyone! I''m having problems to redirect an UDP port to an external server. My firewall have 4 interfaces: NET, LOC (192.168.0.0/24), DMZ(192.168.1.0/24), CMTC(10.0.0.0/24). On CMTC interface I have a direct connection to another network using a VPN link. I need to redirect an UDP port to on server (10.1.0.2) on CMTC zone using my local IP (192.168.0.1) for gateway. I will use

winbindd crashing -- how to auto-heal?
Hi folks, Every couple days any one of my project's 10 or so RHEL VMs can't be logged into with a domain account (active directory integration). Our admin goes in with a local account and restarts winbind to fix it. I'd like to be more proactive and, say, create a cron job to detect a problem and then restart winbind. Does anybody have a recipe for this? If not, do you have any

Cisco 7960 & v7.4
I have recently upgraded my firmware from v6.3 to v7.4. Now when the phone is booted or rebooted, the initial screen "Initializing Vlan" takes forever to initialize before it initializes IP. Any ideas/Thoughts? (Trying not to Revert back to v6.3). -C -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Using NFLOG in shorewall6
Dear all, I have configured both shorewall and shorewall6 on my firewall. Shorewall is using ULOG as logging target and since that did not seem to work I tried using NFLOG in shorewall6. However, nothing is logged in the /var/log files. Three questions: - What am I doing wrong? I just use LOG=NFLOG in the params file. - Can I use NFLOG for shorewall too? - Do I need ulogd when setting the

Route availability check
Hi list, is it true that Shorewall is not willing to forward traffic from a source-ip which is not reachable by a static route from Shorewall itself? To say it on another way. If Shorewall´s routing interface is neither connected nor able to reach that source ip does it forward or deny it? So the situation is the following. I send from an ip which is not part of interface nor hosts file. But

badly mangled names from certain old apps
I just took on a new client who is having a curious problem with mangled names. Here's the history as I understand it: Originally they were on an NT server and there was no issue. My predecessor moved them to a samba server running on gentwo. I do not know what version of samba or how he moved the data, but when he did so, any files and folders with more than 8 characters started
