logrotate.d - reload vs restart
Looking at some of the stuff in /etc/logrotate.d, I see entries like this in some of the configuration files: postrotate /sbin/service privoxy reload 2> /dev/null || true >From the commandline, that doesn't work: # /sbin/service privoxy reload 2> /dev/null || true Usage: /etc/init.d/privoxy {start|stop|restart} Changing reload to restart does work: ]# /sbin/service privoxy restart 2> /dev/null || true Stopping Privox...

set privoxy to rewrite http to https
...if i go to https://www.facebook.com/ that's ok, it's https. But all the links are "http" on the site.. if i click on a "http" link, it will request the page on "http", and THEN it switches to "https". Heres the problem. How/where could i write a privoxy rule, to rewrite all the "http" links to "https"? [so that it would by always trully over https] Are there any "general" rules (with privoxy), so that i don't have to write rules / site? with the KB SSL Enforcer its always first http, then it recognizes that the...

R for Windows Proxy Solution
...R uses to access the internet Setting up a proxy in R 2.2.1 for windows. I work at a Central Bank so our firewall and proxy are very particular. To allow R to access the net I did the following: 1. In order for other programs, specifically STATA, to access the internet we use a program called Privoxy. Download and setup Privoxy < http://www.privoxy.org/> on your machine. 2. In IE (I'm using 6.0) Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings Unselect both checkboxes in the "Automatic configuration" frame. Select both checkboxes i...

fw to fw question
Hi. I''m a happy shorewall user. I found something that looks like a possible bug. I''m using shorewall on a single computer at home. I''m using the privoxy proxy server and dansguardian content filter. I configured shorewall based on the "one interface" example from the shorewall.net website. I set the firewall up so that users cannot directly connect to port 80 or to the proxy server, but the only path to port 80 is through the dansguardi...

I installed ImgBurn under Wine today and it appears to run correctly but does not actually write to the cd Is it ok if I pm you with a bit more detail? Thanks, Lou

Using Icecast over IPv6
Hi, I realise this might be a Debian-specific question. I've got access to two hosts which have IPv6 connectivity, both of which are running Icecast 2.3.2. One is still running Debian Lenny and can be reached via IPv6 just fine, but the other is running Debian Squeeze and cannot. In addition, my local server which does not have IPv6 conectivity to the Internet but which can be reached
