Printers configured using CUPS web interface disapper after restart
Hi all,
I set up a samba server as PDC and counfigured one local printer connected
to the samba server's parallel port and another jetdirect pritner with ip
192.168.0.10:9100 using the CUPS WEB INERFACE. Both were working fine and I
could print from windwos clients also.
Samba server was configured on a test system. So saturday evening I shutdown
the system and today when I started the linux box, I could not find the
printers I have configure...

Printing
...excerpt from printcap:
# This file was automatically generated by cupsd(8) from the
# /etc/cups/printers.conf file. All changes to this file
# will be lost.
printer:
lp0:
So, when I print it does put something in /var/spool/cups
but how do I get it to print?
When I print locally to the pritner it puts a file in /var/spool/cups so I
assume that's the proper directory?

Printer shares will not work - 2.0.7
......
I'm setting up some printer shares that allow automatic driver installation
to Win 9x clients [printer$]. When we try to use these, the drivers install
beautifully, but we get the following error message when we try to print:
"There was an error writing to \\server\printershare for pritner {Printer
Driver}:
The network name cannot be found."
The printer shows up when browsing Network Neighborhood but it will not
allow us to print. Here's some info about the printer. It's an HP LaserJet
that the Linux box is using (/etc/printcap) as a raw queue printing directly
to t...

Printers and other stuff
Well.. okay. Only printers.
I am still having issues (pains, actually) getting my pritner shares to
work from either Linux OR Windows 2000. One of the things I see here is
that the majority of users use CUPS as the printing daemon. From my
previous Unix experieince, I have gravitated towards BSD as my printing
daemon.
Could this be the reason I am having trouble> Does Samba work bet...

XP client printing junk to printers installed using print$ share
Hi all,
I have installed samba server and pritners. Instead having to put drivers
to all clients, I decided to use the print$ share, so that, as I read, I can
also make use of printing accounting.
I did all the requird steps to install the pritner on my FC4 system, put all
the required driver files to the print$ share, added the driver files to...

IP Appears Rather Than Servername
Since we updated to 3.0.6 we are having an oddity that the server IP
appears in printer UNCs rather than the IP address. For instance
printer \\barbel\grdps appears in the printer status box as "192.168.1.9
on grdps". It still works, but this is both odd and unsightly. DNS
forward and reverse is working. It does this on both our 3.0.6
servers. On adding \\sardine\pdfconv print

DNS server and printing.
Good afternoon,
This is my first post, so please be gentle ;)
Anyway, here's my question....I've recently put together a Linux Server for
our company, replacing an old Novel server. I have the box set up with
Samba, as a PDC on our network. So far, just about everything is working
correctly.
One issue I'm coming up against, though, is printing from DOS. I
have Samba
