rsync load problem
Hi all! Can someone tell me please why rsync -avt --whole-file -O --safe-links causes huge load on receiver. As i know, the only main load causes are compression (-z) and the deltas calculating (disabled iin my case by --whole-file). -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/rsync-load--problem-tf3013151.html#a8367649 Sent from the Samba - rsync mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Number of files to be transferred?
I'm writing a wrapper around a large number of rsyncs that need to happen, and it would be great if I could parse the output of a running rsync and find out how far along it is. To do this, I would need to know how many files the rsync is going to transfer. If I run 'rsync -avz --progress', it tells me how many files it is considering, but not how many it actually needs to update.

daemon sizes
Hi everyone I'm still getting strange sizes on the daemon logs. After transferring around 1.66GB over 14 hours (256kbit link) to an absolutely empty directory, I get: 2007/01/26 04:13:43 [26441] sent 57014 bytes received 44708 bytes total size 1947222268 du reports the final size of the directory on the daemon side as 1.6 G, and the "received" bytes can't be 44708?! I know

--fuzzy question
Hi, I have a file that changes slightly in size every day and has the timestamp appended to it.. for example on the 14th may: MybackedUpFileBlabla_200905140219.bak This is transferred by rsync to another server. The next day that file is deleted and substituted by a new file on the sender.. the new file would be named for example (15th May): MybackedUpFileBlabla_200905150221.bak The new file

weak checksum
Hi, I'm curious if anybody knows the exact reason why the weak checksum calculation is slightly different to the standard adler-32 checksum as seen for example here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adler-32 ? Bug 1442983 on 3.10.11 Unable to acquire lock for gluster volume leading to 'another transaction in progress' error
Have sent a backport request https://review.gluster.org/19730 at release-3.10 branch. Hopefully this fix will be picked up in next update. Bug 1442983 on 3.10.11 Unable to acquire lock for gluster volume leading to 'another transaction in progress' error
Hi, I'm hitting bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1442983 on glusterfs 3.10.11 and oVirt 4.1.9 (and before on glusterfs 3.8.14) The bug report says fixed in glusterfs-3.12.2-1 Is there a plan to backport the fix to 3.10.x releases or the only way to fix is upgrade to 3.12? Can the rsync password be automated?
Is there a way to automate the rsync password or maybe disable? I am currently running rsync from a Windows command prompt and would like to run it from a .bat file. I have read through the config man pages but not sure if my ssh_config file is even being used. I tried passwordauthentication = no but it still asked for password. I have seen a option for --password-file= but I believe this does not

strange file sizes in log
Hello everyone, I'm getting strange module sizes in the logs. (2.6.9) This is the command: rsync -anr --delete --omit-dir-times --stats -e "ssh -i access.key -l pluto -p 22" --files-from=config\templist "/cygdrive/C/" sv_rs@192.168.10.49::Accounts After updating all the files on the "Accounts" module, the size is reported correctly on the receiver log file

no matches in file
Hi, I have two versions of a file that in theory should be quite similar... however, the transfer is taking more or less the same time as though the whole file is being transferred. I tried some experiments, specifiying -v three times and also using --stats. This kind of looked interesting: total: matches=0 hash_hits=411107964 false_alarms=11057 data=1053238900 I guess this means that no

copy file upon --delete possible?
Hi all, I have a particular request: I was asked whether when --delete is specified on the client, the daemon can, instead of delete the file, move it to a "trash" directory. The path of the latter may be hardcoded and it is not important to retain info about original path etc.. Not sure whether --backup or some similar option can do this just for deleted files... I was looking

speedup remains 1
Hi List, I'm observing a strange problem on 2.6.9 (no opportunity to upgrade on both ends yet). Receiver is linux, sender is cygwin. I transferred a 6GB file (an MS SQL .bak file) physically from one site to the other, in order to get the first "backup" done. In the meantime, the sender generated a new file, which I know for a fact to be very similar to the manually transferred
