Thousands of classes, BW throttling and prioritizing??
Hello,
I need to limit the bandwidth to 1Mbit per user IP (and never give more)
and inside of each 1Mbit prioritize minimum-delay traffic (video stream
from specific servers, so I mangle TOS for packets from those). The
problem is I need this for *thousands* of users. I am guessing thousands
of classes are needed, but the question is, is this feasible? Could one
machine ever handle this? How does this scale...

how to prioritize by client ip instead of protocol
i have been googling and reading the docs on how to set up a fair que that
gives each user or client ip equal bandwidth. most, if not all, i find
are examples how to prioritize by the type of traffic such as ssh, http,
ftp, smtp, and various p2p. is it possible to set up cues for each ip on
the subnet where each user gets a fair turn. i would probably have to
set the max bandwidth and total que size to avoid latency. stochastic
fair queuing seems like it might work, b...

Prioritize SSH and telnet
Hi routing-experts !
If I want to prioritize up ssh and telnet traffic with Linux 2.4 netfilter
and iproute2. I''ve set outbound tcp 22, 23 and 21 TOSbits to minimize delay,
but this doesn''t seem to be enough to prioritize ssh over for example
http-traffic.
I''m using modem to connect to Internet and got an entire LA...

Prioritizing UDP Packets?
...'d give traffic control a shot.
I''ve downloaded Wonder Shaper and have added this to the default script:
tc filter add dev $DEV parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 12 u32 \
match ip protocol 0x6 0xff flowid 1:3
I''m now quite sure about everything in the script - all I want is to prioritize
the UDP traffic, so that it always gets sent and recieved.
What should I remove / add?
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you.
Kind Regards,
Sommarnatt

QoS and IPSec...
Hi, I have what to me is an interesting issue. I am wanting to
prioritize (QoS) traffic that will be passing through an IPSec
(OpenS/WAN) VPN between two (identical) Linux routers. I know that I
can apply the IPSec patches (1-4) to the kernel and IPTables (if they
are not already applied by now) filter traffic before and after IPSec
encapsulation. My problem is tha...

RTP/SIP traffic prioritization and Linux issues
Hello, all. I've stumbled across what seems to be a traffic
prioritization issue in a Linux environment and wonder if anyone else
has encountered or addressed this issue.
We had planned to use expedited forwarding for our RTP and perhaps our
SIP packets. Our plan was to set DSCP to 101110 (by the way, I think
document http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/snom+360 is in error as I'm

TCNG HTB priority and bandwidth
...side each allocated separate IP addresses.
I need to allocate th traffic to each IP addresses certain portion of
total uplink.
Say, 192.168.0.2 rate 128kbps, ceil 128kbps.
192.168.0.3 rate 65kbps, ceil 128kbps
129.168.0.4 rate 64kbps, ceil 64kbps.
and so on....
Also, for each user i would like to prioritize the traffic within the
allocated bandwidth.
say for (192.168.0.2 rate 128kbps, ceil128kbps), i would like to set prio
1 for http or https traffic and prio 2 for others.
Please suggest how do i achieve this using tcng and htb, or any other
solution.

prioritizing aggregated DBs
Hey all, I've been using ->add_database for a few years
to tie sharded DBs together and it works great.
Now, I want to be able to search across several DBs
which aren't sharded, say: linux-DB, glibc-DB, freebsd-DB.
I want to search for something across all of them, but
prioritize results to favor one or some of those DBs over
others. Is there a way to do that without reindexing?
Or would I fiddle with wdf_inc for all ->index_text and
->add_term calls on a per-DB basis?
Thanks.

Filtering RTP/SIP protocol (Voip)?
Hello
How can I filter (i.e. priorize) RTP protocol and SIP?
Has anybody wrote a filter for that in the meantime
(In 2006 there was none answer from the list ...)
Thanks

rate limited pfifo_fast?
Hi,
I have a cable modem with a bandwidth capped upload rate. I''d like to
prioritize packets going outbound according to the TOS header of the IP
field. I''ve read through the LARTC Howto several times, and I think I have
a good feel for the information it it. It also seems that what I''m trying
to do is pretty straight-forward and common. Unfortunately, the HOWT...

Prioritizing VOIP traffic without sacrificing throughput
Hi,
I would like to prioritize VOIP traffic when we use the phone, but other
times not do traffic shaping at all.
Right now I have my openwrt router set up with htb to do shaping. In
order to get it to work well I had to set my upload and download speeds
much lower than my line speed. With these settings, I get good VOIP

ORC JIT Weekly #12
...thInitializers.
The Extensible RTTI system (https://reviews.llvm.org/D39111) that I posted
a while back has landed. While this is not ORC specific, I expect it to be
used in upcoming patches to allow ORC clients to check the dynamic type of
MaterializationUnits. This can be used during dispatch to prioritize work
by type, e.g. prioritizing stubs and other trivial-to-materialize symbols.
Finally, I hope to spend next week working on support for removable code in
OrcV2, which is one of the big missing features from OrcV1. I expect the
API to end up looking something like this:
using ResourceKey = const...

Call Queue Priorities
Hi All,
We have been playing around with call queues and asterisk and now have
everything set up the way that we want it, bar 1 thing.
When we have a scenario of an agent logged into several queues, we want
to prioritize the "queue" so that calls in that queue are answered
before all the rest.
While we can prioritize calls within a queue, this seems to have no
affect when an agent is logged into several queues (it probably has
effect within the queue itself, but that's not quite what we are after)...

Prioritizing interactive traffic does not work
Hello.
In short Linux Advanced Routing & Traffic Control HOWTO''s chapter
15.4. Prioritizing interactive traffic does not help me at all.
I have an asymmetric ADSL connection nominal 64Kbit in / 16Kbit out,
real (based on bulk transfers measures) 256Kbit/26Kbit. First thing I
would like to improve is to keep interactive (ssh) connection fast
even if uplink is full. The test I make

With git master you can achieve this with a PostingSource subclass as
there's a new PostingSource::reset() method which gets passed the
shard it is being called for, so you can set an ext...

Traffic prioritization and 'class of service' for SIP
We're got a T1 from Sprint that we use for internet. During VIOP calls,
if you download something, the VOIP calls break up.
I found some info at Sprint for adding 'class of service', and I also
have some information on configuring our Cisco routers.
I've read the relevent pages on the wiki, but it seems vauge what's
required and what's required by the NSP (Sprint).
