target printer is in fact a PostScript model -- CUPS will convert the
data as needed...). This means you need to use a PostScript driver on
the Win clients. "man cupsaddsmb" tells you all about it. From the
ESP PrintPro "Print Manager" interface, you can then use the "Export
Driver..." menu item to make it work.
Note, that the second method requires the preparation of the ADOBE*.DLL|HLP
files for the PostScript driver in "/usr/share/cups/drivers/". ESP PrintPro

downloaded win98 print drivers fail in Samba 3.0
Windows 98 client cannot print via samba to PrintPro printer "exported"
via Cups/PrintPro on PrintPro/Samba server. "Exporting" with Cups on
server node allows print drivers to be downloaded to Windows clients from
the server. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

samba no deleting spool files
I have samba version 2.2.5 with printing patches.
printpro 4.2.2 = cups version 1.1.14 (I think)
The files queued in /var/spool/samba don't ever get deleted!!
They are deleted after they are printed by cups in the cups spool
directory.
Why is samba not deleting the files?
Do I need to specify a pint command?

I was not able to build the src rpm either, although I don't remmember what
the error was, but it occurred during compile time as well. I am currently
running the samba 2.2.2a binary rpm that comes with RH7.2 without problems,
but I need the rpcclient app to get ESP PrintPro working with driver pushing.
I have the latest RedHat updates installed as well. Any ideas on what I am
doing wrong?

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing
works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why
can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared
directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google
and all other resources I have. Here's my smb.conf for what it's worth.

CUPS vs lprng
Could I get some opinions on which type of Samba based printing is
easier, CUPS or LPRNG, or just bybass Samba altogether. I'm looking at
the Printing HOWTO by Kurt Pfeifle (Printing Support in Samba 3.0) and
both look really complex. Anyone out there have any experience with
printing services in Samba? Should I just stay away from samba printing
and go direct to Network printers? What

Printer settings reset problems
Hi,
I am working on a print server project where we have ran into a big
showstopper. The print server works in a very mixed environment with
clients running for example Linux, Windows NT4, Windows 2000, VMS,
different Solaris versions and other Unix dialects. The server runs CUPS
for printer spooling and Samba to serve the Windows machines. It's the

Mdk 9.1, samba-LDAP 2.2.8a/3.0b3 (LDAP) can't print to z53
I've not been able to get Samba to print to a Lexmark Z53.
If I call it a Z52, the driver uploads (to where, I have no idea so I
can't check it) but I still can't get anything out of the printer.

cups printing
I have searched around the samba documentation, including the smb.conf man
page, and have found nothing regarding the cups printing system except
change printcap to cups. Now, I have done that, but printing still does
not work. I need some types of details and a sample smb.conf and/or any
other relevant documentation.
