"smbclient //printserver/printersharename -c queue" doesn't work
Hi, all, Problem: -------- * How to retrieve a list of queued jobs from a Windows XP (and NT or 2K) box? I've been searching for documentation about this on the web and in the Samba archives, but didn't find anything useful. Linux (SuSE 7.3) Samba 2.2.4 and 2.2.6, Windows XP and 2K available (currently unknown state of Service Packs) I found out about the

adding printers from netlogon script
While this doesn't relate specifically to Samba, I need to do this in a netlogon .bat file in a Samba domain. In my network, I have a printer hooked to a JetDirect so that it is a TCP/IP printer. Is there a way I can automatically have this printer mapped/added when the user is logged on? -- Andrew Gaffney

Access denied, unable to connect to printer
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello world, I've dug through the docs and googled through the net, but I'm still unable to fix my Samba (2.2.3a-6 for Debian) setup so that I can print from my wife's Windows XP laptop. The server is using Cups and I can print from the server and over the net from my (Debian) laptop. The XP box can connect to the server and browse

Drop in NT print server replacement; NT print names and NT share names-how to handle with Samba
...I changed just the share name and the client updated and kept on going. So my real question is, if I simply drop in the Linux samba print spooler with the NT printer names (not share names) shared out, will the NT clients "like" this. I know that dos app's use the format \\servername\printersharename ... however I simply plan to add those printers with their old "share" names.... which I believe will work. I ask these questions because I have yet to see a definitive guide for dropping in a Linux print server without any client side changes or interaction... when the printer names...

Sharing A Windows Printer server printer queues With Linux Machines using samba
...... > Has anyone set it up so that they sync PDC passwords > with samba passwords? Or any other way so I do not > have to enter password everytime I print? > No. If you use CUPS, it allows you to print thru an smb backend device URI of smb;//username:password@workgroup/servername/printersharename It spares you from typing in the username/password pair. But this is grossly unsecure, It sends your password over the wire unenecrypted. It stores your username/password combo in cleartext in "/etc/cups/printers.conf" and may even reveal it i n the process list (but makes some attempts...

username with @ (at character) - problems with authentication (CUPS)
...(using backslash, unicode value, quotes etc). Nothing works. my username is: abc@domain.com my password is: 12345678 printer server is: srv-file printer name (with space): KyC2520 WITS From various docs i found the URI form I need, to configure the printer smb://username:password@server/printersharename So I did: #lpadmin -p kyo -P /tmp/PPD/English/Kyocera_KM-C2520_en.ppd \ -v smb://"abc@domain.com":12345678@srv-file/"KyC2520 WITS" \ -D kyo -o printer-is-shared=false But the CUPS display this URI as (it ignores the first @ character): smb://domain.com:12345678@srv-file/...

samba printing and disk quotas in Active Directory domain
...and it appears that CUPS and Samba work fairly well together for this purpose. The problem is that our AD domain is well over 40000 users. The only way I see to print to a windows print server is by embedding the username/password combo in a CUPS URI, something like smb://user:password@servername/printersharename. That doesn't work well on a workstation where users are going to be logging in with their Active Directory accounts, via Winbind. It appears to me that even though I am using Kerberos, there's no way to seamlessly pass the credentials used to login, to the print server. Is this a limita...

Samba / CUPS / Drivers
I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to use different driver file downloads for different printers on the system? As of what I can see in all doc-files I can only use ONE set of drivers for all added printers? F.x. I have one printer that is handled by CUPS' PPD system, and one printer that uses RAW. So, the first printer (PPD) should have its feed in postscript format from
