Firstly, apologies for asking this again, I see that it cause a mail loop lasttime. We've setup samba(2.2.4, no patches) and installed the printer drivers using the methods decribed in the printer_driver2.html. The drivers have appeared to have install correctly, we you right click on the printer share and select properties the relevent tabs for the printer driver appear. However, once the printer is installed on the workstation the properties are no longer accessible. The following enter are...

Automated printer driver problems
...m having a problem with automating the download of printer drivers from a Samba 2.2.8 server. We used to use the server with he following options set: use client driver = yes disable spoolss = yes However these options have now been removed from smb.conf. Following the instructions available in printer_driver2.htm (supplied in docs/htmldocs in the source), I can add a printer driver to the samba machine. To do this, I created a user called 'root' on my Win2K machine, logged on as that and then installed the driver to the server following the instructions. Running rpcclient server -U root%secret...

Hi Jerry et al, will the 2.2.6 release show the printers in the 'add-new-printer-wizzard' on the client like the WINDOWS server do ? I'm not sure if you know what I mean, so here is a little illustration: ----------------------------- | NTSERVER | | \\ntserver\printer1 | | \\ntserver\printer2 | | \\ntserver\printer3 | | SAMBASERVER |

...ple.org> ----- From: "John T. Guthrie" <guthrie@counterexample.org> Subject: Comment on a web page Date: Fri, 23 Aug 2002 19:20:06 -0400 To: webmaster@samba.org To Whom It May Concern, I was just looking at your Samba Printing Support Page: http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/printer_driver2.html and on there it mentions that you need to make a directory to place all of your drivers. Then it goes on to say that you need to create the following directory tree under that: [print$]----- |-W32X86 ; "Windows NT x86" |-WIN40 ; "Windows 9...

Fw: Win95 & Win98 - NOT WORKING - NT,2000, XP are ok (reposted)
Hi Peter, i had a long, frunstrating web surfing yesterday night, searching for something that could apply to your case. I didn't find much at all, sorry. The only thing perhaps interesting to you could be this: http://us2.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/printer_driver2.html This doc contains a section about migrating from 2.0.x to 2.2.x I think the problem lyes in the new way samba manages printing, that is by listening the MS-RPCs (Remote Procedure Call) coming from the winNT and win2000 clients. This is done thanks to spoolss, as i figured out reading here and...

Can't add printer drivers.
I am having quite some difficulty adding printer drivers to the print$ share of my Linux box. Here are the details: Debian Gnu/Linux with kernel 2.4.18 on a Sun Ultra 2. Samba version 2.2.3a. CUPS version 1.1.19. I am following along in the printer_driver2.txt file. Here are the relevant lines of my smb.conf: [global] username map = /etc/samba/user.map workgroup = CDE server string = %h server (Samba %v) load printers = yes printcap name = cups printing = cups guest account = nobody invalid users = root security = share...

Problems with SPOOLSS WinNT driver uploads
I've been experiencing a problem with the automatic printer driver download function described in printer_driver2.html under Samba 2.2.5 on Red Hat 7.2. I believe that I have followed the doc correctly and in fact the driver uploads/downloads seem to work if I use a small driver set (like the Apple Laserwriter v23.0) that comes with Windows NT 4.0. The problem is that I cannot seem to set up the printer...

[print$] again
...information, that worked well. I have now setup a different printer for the same network printer box, one that beautifully installs its drivers locally with the Add Printer Wizard. So I thought, why not try again and install the drivers to the samba server? I followed the instructions in htmldocs/printer_driver2.html and could copy the files to the server (if I did a slight alteration to the process described in the file, see below). However, after that it takes several minutes until a double-click on the Add-Printer-Wizard-Icon in the printers window, or a click on properties of any printer in the print$-...

IMPRINTS: mkprintpkg.pl unable to expand microsoft cab file
Jerry, Perhaps you could help me with a problem building a Samba print package. I've downloaded the drivers files I need from HP. I run the appropriate mkprintpkg.pl command, but it dies with the following output: [root@tux designjet]# /usr/local/imprints/bin/mkprintpkg.pl --name="hp1050c" --version=1.00 --display-name="HP DesignJet 1050c" -d "HP DesignJet 1050C

Win95 & Win98 - NOT WORKING - NT,2000, XP are ok (reposted)
Sorry to have to repost this (didn't get any response on the first post), we really need some of the fixes of the new Samba but cannot go ahead without the support for the older machines. Need to prove that Samba is the great product that I believe it is. Hi folks - I am having printing problems with our older machines. Printing is working fine for our Windows NT, 2000 and XP clients.
