changing printer device settings: changes not applied.
...#39;m using samba-2.2.1a on a Debian Linux box as a Debian package.
It only serves as a printserver for about 35 printers which are
all in /etc/printcap. Samba exports them all through the [printers]
section in smb.conf. "guest ok = yes" for the [printers]
The problem is as follows:
- printadmin (having uid 0) logs onto the printserver using a
win2k client
- printadmin right-clicks on a printer, chooses properties and
chooses the tab "Device Settings".
- printadmin changes a few settings and clicks "Apply" and then
"Ok"
Ok.

successor of 'printer admin'
Hello list
last week we upgraded a 2.2 samba installation to the latest
3.024 release (with CUPS as printing backend).
till now we granted some users the right to cancel printer
queues from others with 'printer admin = printadmins' in smb.conf.
I read through the changes-list and realized that 'printer admin'
is now deprecated.
I read through the Samba-book, the Howto-sections but did not find
(or maybe overlooked) what the preferred way in Samba-3.024 is, to
grant some users 'printer admin' rights.
I...

Print driver settings
Hello,
We've installed a samba-printserver at a customer using a large number
of Nashuatec-printers. Most of them are Optra T164, formerly known as
NRG P6025 PS3. In our setup we defined 1 user (printadmin) which manages
all printers. All printusers are mapped to guest. User printadmin installed
the printdrivers on the server and the clients download the driver during
their first connection. So far everything works fine: everybody can print
and download the drivers.
But we also need to configure the...

4.10.2 not connecting to (old) NAS
I am running the PCLinux OS (kernel 5.10.12) and it has recently
upgraded samba to 4.10.2.?? With the upgrade the connection to my NAS
units have ceased to work.?? The NAS is a DLink DNS-343 (old but they
work).?? I have five of them in my network and use them for secondary
storage so only spin them up when I need them.
My last access to the NAS was about a month ago before the upgrade to

Samba + CUPS + Collation problems
.... But the
printer still outputs 2 copies of page 1 then 2 copies of page 2. If
I submit a job from another linux or Mac collation works so cups
appears to be doing the right thing. So I think this is a samba
problem.
