Sudden printer errors

and config since the early 3.x days and have never had an issue. Now
suddenly, any new printers added to cups can no longer be installed in
Windows. XP clients give a generic "Windows cannot connect to the
printer. Either the printer name was typed incorrectly, or the specified
priner has lost its connection to the server."
Windows 7 and 8 are the same. The strange part is that printers
that were added to cups prior to this week can be installed fine. Any
new cups printers added now will not install. I have a very simple
smb.conf:
[global]
netbios name = hal...

Share problem !
...ept one thing. In Network Neighbourhood three
shares are visible instead of two . Shares defined in smb.conf are global,
homes and printer. In network neighbourhood it shows three directories:
xyz (User name)
homes (Defined share - home directory)
printers (Defined share - priner)
The configuration for home directory is as follows :
[homes]
comment = Home Directories
browseable = yes
writable = yes
guest ok = yes
public = yes
Could anyone please help me to understand why it's happening so or what's
going wrong ?

"Failed to create stdout file decriptor" while adding a printer
...e message in my logfile when I try to add a printer.
My addprinter.sh script contains this and has root:root, 0755 rights
echo "Add: $1 $2 $3 $4 $5" >> /tmp/addprinter
(just for debugging perpose..., it's never been called at all)
The important part of [global] contains:
load priners = yes
printing = lprng
printer admin = ries, @ntadmin
show add printer wizard = yes
addprinter command = /etc/samba/scripts/addprinter.sh
admin user = ries
I login as user Ries, and I can see from the logs that samba set the uid to 0
Now when I try to install the printer all the driver files are...
