Going beyond the default html formatter/report?
...ossible to give input at "the same place". Integrate to trac or very lightweight standalone stuff. However it should not be trac reinventing effort. I haven''t use rspec with customer yet but planning to do so with next project, so I might overreact about this matter right now. Priit

How do you keep mocks updated without pain?
...e that mocks are outdated) and Ryan [2] suggest to fall bact to fixtures. I feel I will fall back to fixtures, so no more designing fun with mocks but things feels more lightweight and practical :-) Or perhaps it''s more up to project size and conditions... I don''t know yet. Oki, Priit at typical.nuby.reaction.to.mock.things [1] http://blog.davidchelimsky.net/articles/2006/11/06/view-spec-tutorial "Now the risk here is that you could build a model that doesn''t have a title field in it and your app will blow up! Admittedly, if you only write isolated, granular specs...

ror app with advanced rspec?
...can learn from it. So it should have updated and practising advanced rspec. After reading last threat about "testing behaviour or testing code?", I just realised that I would definitely learn something from app like that. Some casual googling didn''t help me this time. Thanks! Priit at still.nuby.rspecter

how to get observe_field to use GET method?
Hi All. I am trying to set-up observe_field so that it uses the GET method (To work with a RESTful controller). <%= link_to_remote("Test", :update => "main", :url => { :controller => "projects", :action => "show", :id => "3"}, :method => "get" ) %> <%= observe_field("project_selector", :update

Cookies in RSpec
So how do you work with cookies properly in rspec now? I noticed in the docs that it mentions session, assigns, and flash, but nothing of cookie. I''m using edge rails so I''m concerned about changes to the cookie mechanisms. I need to assign values into the cookie (a remember token for restful authentication) so that I can have it log in by cookie. here is my spec

Spec''ing ApplicationController
Folks, I''d like to spec the behaviors that I''m adding to ApplicationController. Specifically, I''m adding: def authenticated? session[:username] != nil end I described ApplicationController, but couldn''t figure out how to call the authenticated method. I''m probably going about this quite wrongly and would appreciate any hints? Thanks, Scott --

setfsmac and LOMAC aux grades - inconsistent behaviour
...set the aux grade on the binary. Getting the IP configured was just the way I stumbled into this and can of course be handled in other ways. Also, it is probably obvious from the above script listing, but the files sit on / filesystem that has multilabel set. lomac and mls modules are loaded. Priit.

Login testing ideas
I''ve been going through Pat''s example story and noticed that there was no checking for a bad login. I assume this is because that would have made the article bigger and more complicated than it needed to be. So the question that comes of of this is: How do folks normally handle the negative case? My plan was to just use another scenario, but as a new person to BDD/TDD,

Mocks? Really?
OK, so i''ve played a bit with mocks and mock_models in controller and view tests and i have a question. Is this statement really correct: "We highly recommend that you exploit the mock framework here rather than providing real model objects in order to keep the view specs isolated from changes to your models." Deprecating the mocking framework?
I saw in one of Dave C.''s comments to a ticket that "our current plan is to deprecate the mocking framework." I hadn''t heard anything about that, but then again I haven''t paid super close attention to the list. Are we planning on dumping the mock framework in favor of using Mocha (or any other framework one might want to plug in?). Pat
