2nd POSTING: Samba PDC shares causing errors in MS Word 97 SR2
Hi,
I support around 15 Windows 2000 Clients who log into and have home
directories on a Samba PDC running under RedHat 7.3. The version of
samba I am using is 2.5.5. All the clients use Word97 SR2 and they all
get the following error while working on documents stored on their home
directories on the PDC:
Word failed reading from this file (filename.doc). Please restore the

Package checking: verifying plots
I pride myself on having an extensive and comprehensive test suite for the survival package.
However, I don't have a good procedure for testing the plotting routines. (Forget "good",
I don't even have a third-rate procedure for this.) This was brought home with the latest
release; within 24 hours I got a note about a problem. They y-axis range for a plot was

root preexec & 2.0.7
I a have a problem resulting from a neat tool I developed through the use of the
"root preexec" option:
This is done in the [homes] section of smb.conf.
I launch a shell script with the user name (%u) and machine name (%m). The shell
calls a C program to check the users quota and returns a code as the percentage
of quota used.
Meanwhile, all output of the C program has been captured

Zoom plugin changes
I'm sorry for being rude, but I am quite upset by this, because it has
gone too far.
I posted a few weeks ago that I was going to be working on zoom over
the summer to improve the accessibility, and I have already begun to
do that. Every step of the way I have made frequent commits to
opencompositing.org and described the progress in my blog.
I asked for information about what your (David)

Re: Coming round to SURS...
i have a question for the people who sponsor the samba team.
"when are you going to realise that your money is being
wasted by not sponsoring me as a design architect on
NT compatibility software suites for unix?"
here - yet again, another demonstration of how much money you have
been wasting.
hopefully this time this "really new" proposal - i.e. yet

[LLVMdev] unofficial github llvm-mirror: announce, frequency update, ownership
Hi all,
I'd like to announce the "unofficial llvm github mirror", which I've
been running for a bit over 3 years now:
https://github.com/llvm-mirror
Why is this useful in addition to the existing llvm git mirrors?
* quick code browsing, easy to link to a particular line or commit
* github projects based on LLVM can simply fork (server-side) and
avoid uploading project contents

R's Data Dredging Philosophy for Distribution Fitting
Forum,
I'm a grad student in Civil Eng, took some Stats classes that required
students learn R, and I have since taken to R and use it for as much as I
can. Back in my lab/office, many of my fellow grad students still use
proprietary software at the behest of advisers who are familiar with the
recommended software (Statistica, @Risk (Excel Add-on), etc). I have spent
a lot of time learning

Problems using GFS2 and clustered dovecot
I am trying to use dovecot. I've got a GFS2 shared volume on two servers
with dovecot running on both. On one server at a time, it works.
The test I am trying is to attach two mail programs (MUA) via IMAPS
(Thunderbird and Evolution as it happens). I've attached one mail
program to each IMAPS server. I am trying to move emails around in one
program (from folder to folder), and then

How to write RoR code
Hi all
I took a look to several examples of RoR on different web sites, and I
found that it is hard to write a class, in RoR, because I do not
understand all the codes used on the source code.

hackish error handling
I''ve got a block of code that''s turning out.. well - just plain ugly.
So i know I must not be doing it the Ruby way.
The main problem I''m having is in dealing with handling errors - and
just not finding much Rails documentation that gives a deeper
understanding of how to handle errors in Rails (outside of several
docs on the catch-all''s)
the main method

That's not something to be proud of if you expect a maintainer to commit on your behalf. If you commit yourself, then whatever.
