Asus A7V600 (3C940 1gb) + Oopsing kernel with PXELINUX

oops when shutting the system down.
it seems as some part of bios/mba randomly overwrites some part of the
kernel or sth alike. this is only my guess.
the same kernel works fine when loaded from a "hard" media.
I have tried various versions of pxelinux: 2.05, 2.07, 1.76. prhaps I have
missed sth? kernels 2.6.0-test11 and 2.4.23 as well (but it is not a
kernel issue).
at the moment I can not remember the version of MBA (I am at home now) -
will update tomorrow.
I however have no idea how to solve this.

Do I really have the right ATrpms repo?
I copied exactly where Axel provided into atrmps.repo. I have the line:
atrpms.repo:baseurl=http://dl.atrpms.net/el5-x86_64/atrpms/stable
but the rpms that are being flagged as updates pretty much all have fc5
in their names.
e.g.:
---> Package mplayer-fonts.noarch 4:1.0-7.at set to be updated
---> Package mplayer.i386 4:1.0-60_r23482.fc5 set to be updated
---> Package

question in using nlme and lme4 for unbalanced data
Hello:
I have an two factorial random block design. It's a ecology
experiment. My two factors are, guild removal and enfa removal. Both
are two levels, 0 (no removal), 1 (removal). I have 5 blocks. But
within each block, it's unbalanced at plot level because I have 5
plots instead of 4 in each block. Within each block, I have 1 plot
with only guild removal, 1 plot with only enfa removal,
