help -- generating a patch
All,
I'm attempting to generate a patch for 3.0.2p1. This patch will modify
the configure script (and another file); I would like to do it via the
configure.ac file.
However, when I run 'autoconf ./configure.ac > ./configure.new', I get an
unuseable ./configure.new script; both with and without my patch
applied (including from a freshly unpacked tarball). Here is the error:

pam and openssh
...a debug line in
session.c and it seems to be overriding PAM! /etc/nologin seems to always
be checked by openssh and the session gets closed if it exists (in
do_nologin() in session.c in 3.4p1).
Is this proper behaviour of openssh?
Am I missing something?
Thanks for any help you can provide,
Jim Prewett
p.s. I'm using a stock RedHat 7.3 GNU/Linux install and openssh is
configured like this:
./configure --with-privsep-user=nobody --with-tcp-wrappers --with-pam
--with-md5-passwords --with-ipv4-default

X11 forwarding problem -- openssh-3.5p1 -- redhat 8.0 -- linux 2.4.18
All,
I'm working on upgrading a machine from RH 6.2 to RH 8.0. I've
encountered one major (for me) snag in that I cannot get X11 forwarding to
work anymore.
I've been google-ing the error messages all morning, with no luck.
Here is debugging output from the server (client debugging output sent
upon request... I don't feel it is relevant). What I feel is interesting

Is there anything additional I can provide to help diagnose this problem?
Thanks for any help you can provide! :)

changing domain name -- what will break?
All,
I'm just about to change my domain name. I'm wondering what problems to
expect related to openssh. I want to change as little as possible (no new
keys, etc.)
So far, I've seen that I'll need to modify my system-wide
ssh_known_hosts[2] files and my users known_hosts[2] files (I'm planning
on providing them a simple shell script that basically runs something like
