to ajax or not to ajax
before I started building my latest rails app, I made the decision to make good use of ajax. My reasonsing was that users would benefit from the quicker page updates - the application provides various different types of insurance quotes, and has several multi-page forms and reports that can be drilled down 5 or 6 levels deep in some cases - so it seemed like a good candidate for ajax Now

Configuring Wine to use on a separate partition
Is it possible to put Wine on somewhere that's other than the Home partition? Like a separate "windows" partition? Also, as I intend to use the Home partition to store most of my work/documents, is there a way for Wine to look beyond the Home/ whatever directory it's in? In other words is there a config file in Wine that I can map drives? I want it to be able to look into into

...I play the game, or use Office, and want to *save* something. Every save game or every document saved to C:\My Documents (again assuming I use defaults) is eating up HDD space that I am no longer able to estimate how much it is (since I don't know how big the picture/video/save game/Powerpoint presenatation is without explicitly checking), and this is what causes one to wake up one morning wondering why in the bloody blue blazes the HDD is suddenly full. However, if the folder to which this data is normally being saved is actually a symlink to another partition (rather than a directory within /h...
