replicates in repeated ANOVA
...gt;post effect when deciding whether there was a Treatment (noise) effect. Unfortunately, whenever, I put the Group factor in the Error term (to take into account subj:Group as a random effect), I get a singular result: (see the data entry section below) > rt.aov <- aov(rt ~ Group*prepost + Error(subj/(prepost*Group)), data=rt.df) Warning message: Error() model is singular in: aov(rt ~ Group * prepost + Error(subj/(prepost * Group)), data = rt.df) plus, I'm not sure how to include the replicate factor ("rep") in my Error() term -- should it be somethi...

How to insert gridlines in lattice density plot
Greetings. How can I insert gridlines in the following density plot call? Must one compose a panel function? 'data.frame': 46 obs. of 2 variables: $ fallrates: num 5.2 7.1 7.1 9.8 3.7 7.5 5 6.2 1.5 2.9 ... $ prepost : Factor w/ 2 levels "post","pre": 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 ... library(lattice) densityplot(~fallrates, groups = prepost, kernal="triangular", lwd=2, plot.points = TRUE, ref = TRUE, auto.key = list(columns = 2), main="Estimated fall rate densi...

Number of Cores limited to two in CRAN
Hi, I am developing a package where I would like to utilize multiple cores for parallel computing. However, I get an error message when I run R CMD check --as-cran. I read that CRAN limits the number of cores to 2. Is this correct? Is there any way to overcome this limitation? Thank you, Ravi [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Re: How to share the tape drive in samba server
...arry along all other attributes not recognized by smbtar, you know streams and stuff. Does anyone have a good CLI for ntbackup.exe? Sorry I got carried away by this fascinating subject. Ah yes, remote tape shares. It's a concept not worth pursuing because of shortcomings already elucidated by preposters, but also counterproductive in terms of low speed yield and potentially contentious chaos. > A quick search reveals this software to look at: > NovaNet (www.network-backup.com), Arkeia > (www.arkeia.com), NetVault Workgroup Edition > (www.bakbone.com), (Veritas BackupExec not &gt...
