Samba and Vista Home Prem login problems
I have a simple peer to peer setup with security = user. I only have
two machines, one Vista and one Linux. I have two shares, one is the
tmp folder and I enabled public access, the other is a user owned
folder with read, write and execute permissions. I can see my Samba
shares from my Vista machine and I can access the tmp folder, but I
can't log on to the user protected one. I have encrypted

Best Asterisk Platform
What is the best asterisk platform to use? What are you guys using?
I am looking for something to host either in our data center or at the
customer prem where I have the control over the unit and not through a
contractor.
I dont mind paying a license fee for a front end interface but still would
rather not have to pay.
Thanks,

winword2000 has pipe problems
High dears,
I just do my first step on wine on SuSE8.2 and Wine 20030508, installed
from new rpm for SuSE.
First I have installed the Office2000 with that command:
Office2000 Prem> wine --dll cabinet=n --debugmsg +loaddll setup.exe
hat it seems to be work: I have got the messages "restart your Computer".
After that I start
wine notepad
only to see if wine is still working -> OK
Than I do:
cd

azure ad provisioning | password hashes sync
Hi,
We are (again) looking at syncing our samba AD to the azure AD cloud.
I installed a win2016 server domain member server and set it up for
syncing, including password hashes, so users can login azure/O365 using
their on-prem passwords.
We're using microsoft's latest tech: the new "Azure AD Connect cloud
provisioning". We made sure to check "password hash sync". Our users &
groups are synced, and from azure's point of view, the sync has a green
status 'healthy'. No errors...

attr_accessible on some properties + attr_protected on others makes class 'open-by-default'
(I posted this as a bug in GitHub
(https://github.com/rails/rails/issues/7018), but then someone there told
me I should post it here, so here it is.)
If you set attr_accessible on some properties in an ActiveRecord-descended
class, and then attr_protected on others - the class becomes ''default-open''
- if any properties are missed or added later, they will be accessible by

azure ad provisioning | password hashes sync
...solution.
So I will start upgrading our DCs to latest in de coming period, to see
if that helps anything.
Strange also that the reporter of bug 10635 is seeing all kinds of error
messages logged in azure, and we don't see any, just green light and 'ok'.
Also nothing on the local on-prem domain member server, so I'm actually
unsure where exactly this is failing, I just know the accounts/groups
are all there, but I cannot logon azure with my samba AD credentials.
Strange enough there are also a few success reports of people syncing
the password on this mailinglist. (although...

Rails 3.0 API doesn't do word-wrap
Hi Guys,
I just realize that on the API documentation the code snippet is overflowing off the screen. Is this an intended behavior? Or who should I contact to get this one fixed.
You can see the screenshot here: http://skitch.com/sikachu/dw82n/screen-shot-2553-08-30-at-16.24.26
Thanks :)

rake issues
Is there any reason why db:setup and db:reset don''t show any more on
"rake -T db"?
I guess any rake task that is defined only as a group of other tasks
(without any ruby blocks attached) presents this problem.
Also let me write this as a remember note to myself for when I have some
time: the Rails Guides on Migrations should be updated to include
instructions about db:load

POS Terminals
...-> Data T1 --> DataCenter -> PSTN Termination
We are currently using Mediatrix gear for fax transmissions from the
customer location, but they don't seem to handle POS modem sales very well.
Does anyone have any experience using POS terminals? Is something like an
IAXy at the customer prem a good idea?
-Thanks for any advice,

Release date for Rails 2.3.6?
...milestones page (https://rails.lighthouseapp.com/projects/8994-ruby-on-rails/milestones) and found out that Rails 2.3.6 was due Jan 15, 2010. Does it mean all tickets in that milestone should be cleared first?
If so, then I would pay attention to clear tickets in that bucket first.
Thank you,

Improve the Rails Lighthouse overview page
Hello,
I have a suggestion to improve the Rails Lighthouse overview page. At
present the description is very large. You need to scroll to find the
tickets and more importantly the list of pages.
I think a shorter description along the lines of http://i48.tinypic.com/2z6a7lt.png
would be much better. All the information at present in the
description can be moved into pages, and they can be linked

JOB | Sysadmin/Lead Platform Engineer (Singapore or London)
Hello, I'm working with an employer that is looking to hire someone to
be responsible for the modernisation of their on prem environment.
There will be lots of VMware and traditional sysadmin work; moving
into more of a Kubernetes/ Python/infra-as-code heavy role only once
the migration project is completed (say 12 months). Consequently I
had hoped that some members of this group may like to discuss. I can

downloading rsync 2.6.x ( or latest) binary for WinXP?
...binary for Windows XP?
The only binaries for Windows I came across on searching with Google are 2.4.x and 2.5.x on http://optics.ph.unimelb.edu.au/help/rsync/
I could find only source files on http://samba.anu.edu.au/rsync/. Did I miss the link for downloading binaries?
Thanks for your response.

Now, the windows machine on which I would like to see my linux files

Please let me know what steps I need to take?
TIA,

AW: Windows 7 64-bit clients with high latency
...roblem?
>
>The problem is in the windows tap driver for 64 bit.
>Windows 7 32 bit version does not have any problem
To me it seems as if it was a problem of communication between windows 64-bit an 32-bit clients. I have tested hosts in the same vpn running windows 7 64-bit (prof. and home prem.), windows xp 32-bit, windows server 2003 32-bit. Connections between two 64-bit clients act normal, as well as the do between two 32-bit clients. Only pings from 64-bit to 32-bit go up to 2000 ms.
