sfdisk -g support in DomU
Back in January there was a mail thread on this subject ( http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2005-01/msg00659.html ), however I see that blkfront still does not include ioctl support for disk geometry. So, any application that uses "sfdisk -g" to get the geometry of a partition, or disk, will fail when run in DomU. Is this a deliberate omission? Nick Logan

R version 2.01.1, Crimson Editor and the "one" from nowhere
...: > source("C:/Program Files/R/fooscript.txt") I get : > 1source("C:/Program Files/R/fooscript.txt") with a "1" in front of the line.... and of course R greets me with a "syntax error" message. Then I have to remove the "1" by hand (pretty prehistoric, ...and does not work if my script is meant to launch other scripts during the night....) I cannot figure where this "1" comes from !! Did some of you already encountered this problem, and how did you get rid of it ? Thanks a lot, have a nice week-end. Olivier -- Olivier ETERRADOS...

OpenSSH on NCR MPRAS
...nd then, once they have been confirmed, it resets the ENTIRE IP stack, and applies the new settings. Clearly, this is not something that should be done remotely! However, the net result of this is that OpenSSH generates thousands of error messages in the "accept" loop, filling up the (prehistoric) syslog facility that has no concept of "previous message repeated 122342234 times"! This continues even after the IP stack has completed reloading. Question: Would it be unreasonable to add some kind of loop counter that tracks the number of consecutive accept errors, and if it re...

comparing two matrices, row by row
...rray(data=c(1:16),dim=c(4,4)) ar2 <- array(data=c(1,2,3,3,5:16),dim=c(4,4)) They only differ in the fourth row. I would like to compare them in order to know which columns are equal. The following works, but I would like to have a better solution, and not to use what someone called "prehistorical loops": for(i in c(1:4)) { cat(as.character(i),": ", as.character(setequal(ar1[i,],ar2[i,])), "\n") } 1 : TRUE 2 : TRUE 3 : TRUE 4 : FALSE I cannot devise how to use the apply function for this. Thanks a lot, Federico _______________________________...

Development forever
...ve sed in setups like klibc. This is because i can write quite rich applications only in dash/sed. This requires BRE support, as opposed to just shell patterns. I'm about to start TUI system based on it and TERM=linux. Latter may be expanded via Linux development of vt, i guess. Because current prehistoric set of capabilities is just dead and stupid. Careful (re)design of such thing can lead to comprehensive framebuffer support even on console based apps in the end (i.e. world domination). I saw your changes to dash, like timeout support. Why is that? Bash is good example of NIH stuff not to foll...

ext3fs patch for 2.4.16 kernel?
This maybe early, but is there an ext3fs patch for the 2.4.16 kernel -- also, in general where does one download the lastest ext3fs patches?? I found the 2.4.14 patch a few weeks ago on in the linux.org UK site, but all the patches appear to be taken off that site...Any help would be most appreciated... Thanks, Chris --------------------------------------------------------------------

Mixed effects model help
I am attempting to set up a mixed effects model, with one factor fixed (put in as.factor, with three factor levels) and one factor random(put in as.factor, with four different batches) as well as the interactions. I have tried the lme function, but R continues to crash everytime I run it... My code is: model_lme(y~a,random=~b+a:b) Is this way off base? I just need to get F statistics to do

POP3 LAST command?
Hello, any plans to support this in the future? Seems the inability to use LAST breaks that Yahoo remote mailbox slurper thing, not that I care too much about that, but some mail clients might miss it as well. ;) Regards, Christian Balzer -- Christian Balzer Network/Systems Engineer NOC chibi at gol.com Global OnLine Japan/Fusion Network Services http://www.gol.com/

[Bug 1818] New: Rsyncd refuses connection if reverse mapping fails
...Platform: Other OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: core AssignedTo: wayned@samba.org ReportedBy: heikki@indexdata.dk QAContact: rsync-qa@samba.org First of all, apologies for running a prehistoric version (2.5.6cvs), but that's what my Debian/Stable has (and it has its own patches too...). I tried to scan the bug reports to see if this had been fixed in a later version, but didn't find anything. Anyway, the problem is that I need to rsync from a machine that has no reverse m...

Problems with Delphi 3 on SAMBA
Hi, We have a Sun running SAMBA and have a problem with a share which contains Delphi 3 source code. Compilations on large projects fail, with the .EXE file stopping generation at ~2Mb, although compilations of the same code on an NT drive are fine. Delphi 1 seems to work fine on the SAMBA drive, creating files of >3.5Mb, so it does not seem to be a file size problem either. Can anyone shed

Problem with cast {reshape}: Error in match.fun(FUN) : could not find function "Negate"
Dear All I'm having problem with some script which worked a few months ago (on a different computer that might well have had a different version of R installed, so perhaps it has to do with the old version of R?): library(reshape) Loading required package: plyr > tble.data <- melt.array(interp, varnames=c("tme","lon","lat")) > > allyrs.interp <-

Gompertz-Makeham hazard models---test for significant difference
Hi, all. I'm working with published paleodemographic data (counts of skeletons that have been assigned into an age-range category, based upon observed morphological characteristics). For example, the following is the age distribution from a prehistoric cemetery in Egypt: naga <- structure(c(15,20,35,50,20,35,50,Inf,46,43,26,14),.Dim=as.integer(c(4,3)),.Dimnames=list(NULL,c("col1","col2","col3"))) > naga col1 col2 col3 [1,] 15 20 46 [2,] 20 35 43 [3,] 35 50 26 [4,] 50 Inf 14 So a...

A coding question involving variable assignments in ifelse()
Dear List, Below is a simple, standard loss model that takes into account the terms of an insurance policy: deductible <- 15 coverage.limit <- 75 insurance.threshold <- deductible + coverage.limit tmpf <- function() { loss <- rlnorm(rpois(1, 3), 2, 5) sum(ifelse(loss > insurance.threshold, loss - coverage.limit, pmin(loss, deductible))) } net <- replicate(1000000, tmpf())

spandsp-0.0.2pre6
Just wondering if anyone else has managed to successfully compile spandsp-0.0.2pre6... I'm assuming it is working for most people, else it probably wouldn't have been released, and/or, other people would have had more to say about it... In any case, these are the errors I am getting while doing a make: if /bin/sh ../libtool --mode=compile gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I. -I -g -O2 -MT

Low sample rates / bit rates
Hey guys. I think Vorbis is pretty cool, but since the current OggEnc only offers 44.1kHz, it limits what I wanted to use it for. So I've been using Lame to get 16kHz mono Vorbis files. I'm curious about whether Lame does Vorbis encoding the "right" way for non-44.1k stuff, or whether it just encodes as it would for 44.1k & changes the sample rate on the output, but I'm
