Predator Prey Models
Dear R-users,
I am currently modifying a previously developed predator prey model and
was curious if there was a way to add in a disturbance to the model (let's
say at time t=100). The disturbance can be the introduction of 40 prey
(N=40) and 10 predators (Pred = 10). I would like to see my model go from a
state of equilibrium (up to t = 99), show this disturbance (at t = 100) and

Not sure how to handle hazard in my survival model
Hi R experts :)
I'm trying to carry out a survival model on my data, but I am unsure of
whether it's appropriate or if I should do something specific in regards to
hazard.
My data is time to death by predator where I have 8 prey and one predator in
the setting. This means that two prey can't possibly die at the same time
and I can't quite get my head around how to include this in

Alien versus Predator mouse move limit...
Heya,
I'm sorry for spamming these forums!! :P I'm trying out games on wine. I got to install Alien Versus Predator, the old Win95/98 version. It seems to run just fine except for the mouse. I can't do 360 degree turns. The mouse is also limited in the vertical axis. It feels like there, behind my screen, is a window in which my cursor-arrow moves. A window smaller than the screen

coupled ODE population model
I'm fairly new to R, and I'm trying to write out a population model that
satisfies the following;
the system consists of s species, i= 1, 2,...,s
network of interactions between species is specified by a (s x s) real matrix,
C[i,j]
x[i] being the relative population of the "ith" species (0 =< x[i] =< 1,
sum(x[i]=1)
the evolution rule being considered is as follows;

Aliens versus Predator
Hello all.
For those interested: Aliens versus Predator now works nearly perfectly with
Wine (I tested it with the CVS version, dated 30th May 3004).
Small glitches: the X cursor stays stuck in the middle of the screen (it can
be used as a crosshair :^); when I fire my weapon, the sound of the burst
continues after the firing has stopped (I get many sound buffer underruns -
I use alsa 1.0).

Install Shield Error While Installing Alien vs Predator 2
Hi,
I'm using Fedora Core 1. I downloaded wine 20031212 (rpm format) and
installed it successfully.
The Alien vs. Predator 2 (AVP2) uses Install Shield, so I downloaded
DCOM98.
When I install DCOM98, I recieved the error message about "an older
version", but I solved it with copying some windows DLL files to the
"c:\\windows\system" folder.
Then I try to install AVP2,

Random labeling hypothesis in spatstat
Hi,
I am trying to test the random labeling hypothesis with my data. I have a point pattern of bird nests and each nest has a mark that it is either predated or not-predated. I want to test the null hypothesis that the K distribution of predation events is equal to the K distribution of all events (nests). This is the code I am using:
Kdif <- function(X,...,i) {
Kidot <- Kdot(X,...,i=i)
K <- Kest(X,...)
dif <- eval.fv(Kidot-K)
return(dif...

vectors of equations in ode / desolve
Hello,
I have a syntactic problem with ode. How do I specify vectors of
equations in ordinary differential equation systems. (i.e. in my case I
want to simulate an a priory undefined number of species that have
different parameters but the same behaviour)
I demonstrate this using the Lotka Volterra example. The code below does
not work and I have not a good idea how to specify this right.

nested design in lme, need help with specifying model
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me with specifying a right model for my analysis. I am a beginner to lme methods and though have spent already many hours studying from various books an on-line helps, I was unfortunately not able to find a solution to my problem on my own.
Data structure:
I studied escape behavior of three species of a prey to a predator. The prey specimens (many) were in a

i'm having this trouble, and this is a complete log from the start of steam till the end of it http://pastie.org/1717948
i'm tring on clean installations, with or without playonlinux i'm having the same problem. mouse axes don't work, but mouse clicks works both. the game seems running fine, just mouse axes don't work.

Again, many thanks,

- detecting outliers
Hello all,
I am estimating parameters for regression functions on experimental data.
Functional response of Rogers type II.
I would like to know which points of my dataset are outliers. What is the
best method to do this with R?
I found a method via R help, but would like to know if there are better
methods for my purpose.
Here is the script I us now:

Alien vs. Predator Classic 2000 - Mouse doesn't working
Hi
I have only one but BIG problem with this game. Mouse just doesn't working i don't know why i tried to change MouseWrapOverride to enable/disable/force and nothing helped. But sometimes when i lunch game i can see the mouse cursor somewhere in the game window and it doesn't moves the game just block it in one place. Of course i tried few things like run game in window/fullscreen

glmmADMB
Hi there,
I am new to the package glmmadmb, but need it to perform a zero-inflated
gzlmm with a binomial error structure. I can't seem to get it to work
without getting some strange error messages.
I am trying to find out what is affecting the number of seabird calls on an
array of recorders placed at 4 sites on 6 islands. I have nightly variables

Survival, should I use (start, stop) and how?
Dear R users,
I fear this is terribly trivial but I'm struggling to get my head around it.
First of all, I'm using the "survival" package in R 2.12.2 on Windows Vista with the RExcel plugin. You probably only need to know that I'm using "survival" for this.
I have data collected from 180 or so individuals that were checked 7 times throughout a trial with set

Yes, the (start, stop] formalism is the easiest way to deal with time
dependent data.
Each individual only needs to have sufficient data to describe them, so
for if id number 4 is in house 1, their housemate #1 was eaten at time
2, and the were eaten at time 10, the following is sufficient data for
that subject:
id house time1 time2 status discovered

boostrap an nls regression
Hello there
I have the following model based on the hollings disc equation for the type
II functional response for 2 data sets:
nls(eaten~(a*suppl)/(1+a*h*suppl)
where eaten is the number of prey eaten by a predator and suppl is the
number of prey initially supplied to the same predator.
I have parameter estimates of 'a' and 'h' for the two populations studied
and would like
