W2K PDC preconfigured security templates
Plan to use W2K PDC and a couple of Samba 2.2.8 file
servers.
Has anyone used the preconfigured templates that are
shipped with W2K server(basicdc.inf, securedc.inf) on
their PDC?
Gotchas? Landmines? Necessary Modifications?

That is likely required to keep the complexity manageable and to allow
static preconfiguration.
Well, we could declare our virtio-shmem device to be an IOMMU device
that controls access of a remote VM to RAM of the one that owns the
device. In the static case, this access may at most be enabled/disabled
but not moved around. The static regions would have to be discoverable

Please specify more precisely which feature in which IOMMU you are
referring to. Also, given that you refer to VFIO, I suspect we have
different thing in mind. I'm talking about an IOMMU devi...

...bit for VT-d IR in Jailhouse) and doing this
per platform (AMD IOMMU, ARM SMMU, ...) is out of scope for us. In that
sense, generic grant tables would be more appealing. But what we would
actually need is an interface that is only *optionally* configured by a
guest for dynamic scenarios, otherwise preconfigured by the hypervisor
for static setups. And we need guests that support both. That's the
challenge.

Isolate VMs' network
All,
I'm trying to setup a network with some virtual machines, that can connect
to each other and to the internet, but neither to the host nor to other
VMs.
Is there any preconfigured network filter or best-practice for this setup?
Of course, I could setup iptables rules on the host, but I'd prefer
libvirt to handle them.

bind vs. bind-chroot
Hi,
On my public servers, I usually run BIND for DNS. I see CentOS offers a
preconfigured (sort of) bind-chroot package. I wonder what's the
effective benefit of this vs. a "normal" BIND setup without chroot. On
my Slackware servers, I have a rather Keep-It-Simple approach to all
things security, e. g. run no unneed services, open only needed ports
etc. but I don't r...

Best inode_ratio for maildir++ on ext4
Hi,
This might be a silly question: which would be
the best inode ratio for a 5 Tb filesystem dedicated to Maildir++
storage? I use ubuntu server, which has a preconfigured setting for
mkfs.ext4 called "news" with inode_ratio = 4096, and after formating the
fs with that setting and then with the defautl setting I see this
difference of space (wasted space, but more inodes):
4328633696 free 1K-blocks with mkfs's "-T news" switch = 1219493877...

have you done step A previously?
It seems you are not compiling against the preconfigured linux headers
otherwise the headers_install wouldn't fail.

iSCSI initiator iqn
...ough the underlying qemu command has this option.
It appears that each time guestfish tries to connect to iSCSI LUN, a
randomly generated initiator iqn is being used. This is preventing
guestfish to connect to the iSCSI target in our environment as the target
allows incoming connection based on the preconfigured initiator iqn.
Is there way to set iSCSI initiator iqn with guestfish command?
