VNC-Server HowTo
...uot; "2.4. Create xstartup scripts" Comments about the rational for the "xstartup" changes would be helpful, including why one might or might not want to run the standard window manager through VNC. "2.5. Test each VNC user" At this point, if following the steps precicely, the vncserver service will be stopped. Need to add: Start the VNC service: # service vncserver start At the end of section 2 I suggest adding a note to the effect of: For basic VNC configuration the procedure is now complete. The following sections are optional refinements to enhance se...

Get back in dialplan with number-parsing
...en,1) exten => _X.,n,goto(outgoing,${CALLERID(dnid)},1) I use _X. to match anything, but if the call is allowed, I want to jump back in the [outgoing] context and restart parsing the dialled number. exten => _X.,n,goto(outgoing,${CALLERID(dnid)},1) works only id the dialled extension exists precicely in outgoing context, not in included contexts, and does not to pattern matching. I can't include [outgoing] in [specialoutgoing], because the number has already been matched by _X. I don't want to rewrite the whole dialplan in [specialgoing] or to put the test into the existing context...

summary.manova rank deficiency error + data
Dear R-users; Previously I posted a question about the problem of rank deficiency in summary.manova. As somebody suggested, I'm attaching a small part of the data set. #*************************************************** "test" <- structure(.Data = list(structure(.Data = c(rep(1,3),rep(2,18),rep(3,10)), levels = c("1", "2", "3"), class =

excluding based on filesystem?
I'm using rsync as part of a system to create nightly snapshots of several servers, much like several people are appearently doing. However, I have a bit of a problem with things that I don't want backed up. On most of the systems, things like devfs, procfs, sysfs, etc don't need backed up. In addition, I have directories from one server NFS mounted on several of the other servers -

Re: SYSLINUX Digest, Vol 29, Issue 2
Sure, I don't mind testing it out on there for you, but, where do I find the pre releases to try then? At least we know it's between 2.13 and 3.00. That narrows it a bit I would think. Mind you, if it jumps up a major revision number, I guess that means a lot of changes went in. On 8/2/05, syslinux-request at zytor.com <syslinux-request at zytor.com> wrote: > Send SYSLINUX

USB boot problems on Gigabyte GA-M55Plus-S3G
...t;Can you confirm that the same USB stick works with isohybrid >and fails with the hard-disk-style setups ? I would like to try, if doing so will be of any help. But I'm sorry to say that I don't even understand the question. If you want me to do more (or another) test, please give me precice instructions and I'll do my best to carry them out and report results. (For clarity, I used my 8GB Patriot XT USB stick for the two tests I did with (1) the "archlinux-2014.01.05-dual.iso" file and (2) the "debian-7.3.0-i386-netinst.iso" file.) I have several brands and s...

Calculation of e^{z^2/2} for a normal deviate z
You may want to look into using the log option to qnorm e.g., in round figures: > log(1e-300) [1] -690.7755 > qnorm(-691, log=TRUE) [1] -37.05315 > exp(37^2/2) [1] 1.881797e+297 > exp(-37^2/2) [1] 5.314068e-298 Notice that floating point representation cuts out at 1e+/-308 or so. If you want to go outside that range, you may need explicit manipulation of the log values. qnorm()
