Final Post/Lack of support
...ant for a music player, said some bad words there and honestly apologized for that as well. But what I experienced there (as usual when someone enters that channel) is pure arrogance. Telling me to leave even after some minutes of my apologies has to have consequences. This announcement of ogg-prak, which is meant to try to solve the matter (after the damage is done and there is a huge userbase using *.ogm for video+audio content), just means we did wrong and renders all our files useless. I feel betrayed by Emmet, another official spokesman of Xiph, who said to support ogm, who now happi...

AW: Re: Final Post/Lack of support
...e accepted and used by the video encoding community, as a replacement for outdated AVI. Being a windows user myself ( in my age you dont get easily used to another OS, and i hate CLI ;-) ) i fully agree with you it would have been much easier to allow .ogm as official extension than to create Ogg Prak, which in one way or another is nothing else but an extended right click with the mouse and using the Windows function 'Open With...' , and will lead to confusion and frustration of possible Ogg users. The fact that OggPrak was coded by a very good personal friend of mine ( BlackSun ) doesn...

.ogg file extension for both audio and video?
Hi, If I understand things correctly them Ogg is the wrapper format that is also going to be used for Xiph's upcoming video compressor. Does that mean that the .ogg file extension will also be used for video? This could present problems regarding mapping the .ogg file extension to an application if for example I want audio to be handled by Winamp2 and video by something else.

zfs inotify?
OK, so this may be a little off-topic, but here goes: The reason I switched to OpenSolaris was primarily to take advantage of ZFS''s features when storing my digital imaging collection. I switched from a pretty stock Linux setup, but it left me at one disadvantage. I had been using inotify under Linux to trigger a series of Ruby scripts that would do all the basic ingestion/setup for

.ogg extension and Theora
>Paul E Wrote [snip] >Windows 2000 (although it's the same for all of them) doesn't read in >any mime-type to correctly identify a file, it just uses the extension. [snip] What if, at least for Windows, someone wrote a simple application which when associated with .ogg files and an .ogg file was opened simply read enough of the ogg stream to identify the type of content and then

--fuzzy search over to-be-deleted files to catch moved files and directories
Hi, I use rsync via rsnapshot to backup a large collection of files. Using "--fuzzy" already saves me a lot of time by discovering most renames that happen within a directory. Therfore I already use the "--delete-after" option. Now the question is, if fuzzy search could be extended to search for moved files across directory borders. If for example I move pictures aound to
