[PATCH v2] xen-netback: add a pseudo pps rate limit
VM traffic is already limited by a throughput limit, but there is no control over the maximum packet per second (PPS). In DDOS attack the major issue is rather PPS than throughput. With provider offering more bandwidth to VMs, it becames easy to coordinate a massive attack using VMs. Example: 100Mbits ~ 200kpps using 64B packets. This patch provides a new option to limit VMs maximum packets per second emission ra...

Hardware Requirements for qdisc htb/sfq
I am planning to replace our cisco 7200 core router with Linux. We currently serve around 1500 (3/4 DSL - different router) customers with probably half of them being concurrent at any given time. We have a fiber network and customers currently aren''t managed as far as how much bandwidth they can use at anytime. Therefore I have constructed a working tc qdisc Linux router as a test. It

patch: two minor debugging-related pointer protection stack issues (PR#10832)
Full_Name: John Brzustowski Version: R-devel trunk and R-2.4.0 OS: linux Submission from: (NULL) (76.10.152.79) Here are two minor potential issues in pointer protection stack (PPS) code which could arise in debugging R with valgrind. Only the second could possibly cause a problem in normal use of R, and only under laughably implausible circumstances. (1) valgrind is given a wrong address when it is told to mark the reserved "red zone" portion of the PPS as "...

PPS Kit - Nanosecond timekeeping patches?
Can anyone comment on the easiest way to get the PPS Kit kernel patch to work on a CentOS-5 system? I'd rather not use a plain vanilla kernel. http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/daemons/ntp/PPS/

Limit pps not just bandwidth (kbps) on ingress
I want to limit pps (packets per second) not just bandwidth on the ingress side. I can do this using IP tables but I''m curious if there is a way to do this with TC. Thanks. Jon Flechsenhaar Boeing WNW Team Network Services (714)-762-1231 202-E7

[PATCH 1/3] nv50: enable h264 and mpeg4 for nv98+ (vp3, vp4.0)
Create the ref_bo without any storage type flags set for now. The issue probably arises from our use of the additional buffer space at the end of the ref_bo. It should probably be split up in the future. ...ermitions ! we use a big database-system. the clients searches for the programs and for the data's on the same drive, so i must have one share with different rights (rwx ... for data and rx for programs) the directory structure is the following: vol1\ \flex31d ........ programs \pps ....... datas ... the problem is, that if a windows-client uses the explorer, he can in an easy-way delete move ... all the databse ! in the novell i deleted the file-scan permition for the vol1\pps .. so each client could see an empty subdirectory of pps, but the database could touch all the...

HTB statistics granularity
Hi, I am running HTB and using the following command to get rate and pps statistics: tc -s class show dev eth0 However what I am seeing is that if I run the command over and over again, I see the sent bytes and sent packets increment however the rate and pps have the following issues: 1. The rate and pps values only seem to update after every 15 seconds 2. They do no...

survey package question
...re are voting units, where people actually vote (on average there are about 40 voting units for polling station) 3) for each voting unit I have the total votes by candidate (e.g., candidate 1 =322, candidate 2=122, candidate 3= 89) The initial sampling design is: 1) selection of 5 polling stations PPS (based on number of voters) 2) selection of 10 voting units (SRS) I am interested in estimating the proportion of votes by candidate (let's assume we have 3 candidates). My naive estimate would be: votes for candidate 1 / all valid votes = proportion e.g. candidate 1= 2132 / 10874= .1906 ca...
