windows printer queue failure
I am driving Suse 8.2, samba 2.2.7a, cups 1.1.18 As I mentioned recently I cannot see the cups printer queues from a windows client even if lpq -Pprinter on the cups server gives the correct status. I tested a litte more and got the following results: 1.) If I configure samba to printing = CUPS printcap name = CUPS I can see all queue entries in the windows status panel, too -- except for those jobs, that were sent by users with account na...

windows printer queue display fails
I am driving a Suse 8.2 linux with cups 1.1.18 and samba 2.2.7a. The problem: The host serves several printers via cups. If some jobs are in one of the queues "lpq -Pprinter" or "lpstat -o printer" shows up the complete listing. Fine. Connected to the same print queue from a Windows (XP/NT/98/2k) box I cannot see the complete listing. Sometimes I see some of the jobs, most of the times I don't see any. Executing "lpq -S printhost -P printer&quot...

deleting print jobs
...to work. print job are still undeletable. i have no machine running on secutiry=user, so i cannot use security=server on linux print server (at least i think so. i'd like to be proven wrong). i thought about hacking the lprm command, but i don't know how to do it. usually, i 'sudo lprm -Pprinter' to delete print jobs, but i have to give a password, and i don't know how to code it inside an lprm command. has anybody done something like this before? and is he/she willing to share it? any other solution? thanks for your time please, excuse my english -- Marco Frattola Piacenza...

LPRng: Printing to Samba 2.0.7 from Windows 2000
...e, but there was no output from the printer. First, check to make sure that the job REALLY is getting to the right print queue. If you are using a BSD or LPRng print spooler, you can temporarily stop the printing of jobs. Jobs can still be submitted, but they will not be printed. Use: lpc -Pprinter stop Now submit a print job and then use 'lpq -Pprinter' to see if the job is in the print queue. If it is not in the print queue then you will have to find out why it is not being accepted for printing. Next, you may want to check to see what the format of the job really was. With the...

I have played around with samba now for quite a while but couldnt print on my win2k box with koffice. with the command line smbclient it works: smbclient //server/hpdeskje -N -P -U user -c 'print hello' prints a text (from the file hello) "Hello World" Also a print to file file off my win2k box would print fine with smbclient. Only, I cant quite find out how the printcap

Best Printer Setup
Hi, I've been toying with the idea of using the Linux machine as a print server. I'm using RedHat 5.2 and Samba 2.0.3. I already have one remote printer share working... but I can't figure out where the PrintTool in RedHat is storing the remote printers IP address. Anyone know where? :) (not important just bugging me - I hate when OS's hide stuff) I have the Samba book
