...e link. Although I switched to flac for other reasons, these data appear to support my switch, given the hardware limitations I have. As I mentioned, I use a 400 mhz laptop in my office, and at home a qnap ts-101 running slimserver software. While quite usable, neither is exactly a processing powerhouse. So it appears that flac is an easy choice for me. Thanks again. -- Chris

Status of Prototype
Hi *, we are using prototype in Apache MyFaces as our javascript library of choice. Recently, there has been much discussion on our mailing list as to the usability of prototype in a dynamic environments where several javascript libraries are used. The critics of prototype argue that the prototype objects are not namespaced - and that prototype extends basic javascript-objects with method names

All of this lies in the burgeoning field of sports statistics which now has its own ASA section, journal, etc. so I hope we won't get stuck on it here, unless somebody writes a package! and also my excuses to the R users at the big state university basketball powerhouses in the U.S. who probably know much more about this than I do. Thoughts on CPE server...
...y up and if they have a PSTN line the Asterisk server could failover to the FXO trunks. Some of the ports I think would be useful on this piece of gear... - 1 WAN port - 1+ LAN ports - 1+ FXO ports (optional) - Would be nice for faxing - 1 Console - 1 VGA / USB / PS2 It wouldn't need to be a powerhouse as i'm only serving between 10-15 seats. Efficiency
Hi list users, Is there a comparison somewhere of the efficiency of decoding flac files, with respect to some benchmark related to cpu processing? As compared to, say, ape files? I ask because I have recently switched my entire archive from ape to flac. I have an old 400 mhz laptop in my office running xubuntu, which I run into a receiver. Works great. Since switching to flac, I notice the

prototype.js
Hi *, We don''t know if you guys are the right audience, but we got a problem with prototype.js we need to solve. Essentially, it is a compatibility bug with the IE. We wrote a component so it updates itself periodically using AJAX. we used the prototype.js to accomplish this (using the periodicalUpdater object). now the component works fine using firefox or opera, but NOT with IE. the

JavaScript question
Hi guys, I know this is not the perfect place to ask this question, but I''m struggling with object-oriented javascript and event-handlers and you guys are probably the only ones adept enough to help me out with this. I have this calendar code I hate (and still have to maintain ;) and wanted to change it to use object-orientation. So I have written a JavaScript-class called

Best way to duplicate a live Centos 5 server?
I've got a CentOS 5 server that I want to migrate over into a virtualized instance. The problem is I need to minimize downtime so was trying to figure out a way to "live" clone the original. Initially, I thought I could do this via exporting an iSCSI target from the virtual host, create a MD raid 1 array on the C5 server, wait for it to sync, then shutdown the physical server and

Free "Agile Web Development with Rails" Text
Hi All, I''m a RoR n00b that has been lurking for a week or so. About two weeks ago I bought the text version of Agile Web Development with Rails. Could eBay be built with Rails?
My friend and I (both new to RoR) were having a discussion today about whether or not you could build an exact replica of eBay using on Ruby on Rails. I think that it could in fact be done, or at least a very close model of the same concept. My friend seems to think that maybe in fact, it could not be done. What are your thoughts? Could an eBay clone be built using only Ruby on Rails? What do you

Cisco vs Asterisk
Hello all, A client of us, is thinking to migrate their actual PBX to a Cisco CallManager. We want to sell him an asterisk box to complement the Cisco PBX. I think to use asterisk as a Voicemail server (Replazing the Cisco Unity) Has asterisk all the functionalities to replace a CIsco Unity server? Which functionalities Cisco Unity has than asterisk could cover? How could asterisk complement the
