Netgear FS116P and Cisco 79XX phones
...k with this than I have. I would like to connect Cisco 7940s and 7960s to the Netgear FS116P, and take advantage of its POE. I know that the Cisco phones use Cisco's "pre-standard" POE implementation, but as I understand it the difference is really only two pins. I bought a bunch of PowerDsine inline power adapters which supposedly change the right pins so that standard POE will work with Cisco POE, but it does not (other POE devces work fine on the Netgear such as SNOMs), at least not on the Netgear. I have tried several different settings on the phone as well, changing the media type,...

POE
Hey guys, I was wondering what POE solutions are being used ? Ive done some searching on google and found that PowerDsine seems to be good brand. Any comments, suggestions, and experiences on POE hubs other POE products would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Steve Maroney

Cisco 7940/60 and 802.3af PoE
...has been asked before, but googling has turned up several contradictory results: 1/ No - not at all 2/ Maybe - 79XXG will work 3/ With a special cable/dongle (a la wikki) I am looking at getting several 20 x 7960 (not Gs) to work with * and a NetGear FSM7326P switch. Do I also need to get a PowerDSine converter dongle for each phone? Powering SNOM 200 phones?
Ok, not exactly an Asterisk problem, but... I picked up some SNOM 200 phones because SNOM's have been recommended for use with Asterisk and they have line buttons that can subscribe to presence. However, they don't appear to power up when connected to my Negear FS108P, which is an 802.3af Power-over-ethernet capable hub. I am pretty sure these are the SNOM 200b, in that the ethernet

POE hub
I need to connect up to sixteen phones per building, I can use a cheap hub, but POE would be useful. Is there a cheap POE hub available? Everything I have seen has been expensive. Chris Mason

[PoE] Avaya 1152a1x
Sorry for posting slightly off topic, I use an Avaya 1152a1x midspan device to deliver power some Snom phones. The Power distrubution unit seems to be identical to PowerDsine PD-6024G/AC/M. I can get some basic information via SNTP (networking setup, uptime) but no port monitoring and no monitoring of power output using snmpwalk on the device. Does anyone has experience wit such an device? Does anyone know what my fault might be? How I can configure the device to ou...

Power Over Ethernet for *any* ethernet switch (or hub); product idea
Based on several threads I've read on this list, I assume that it would be handy to supply POE (power over ethernet) in an environment without having to purchase POE switches (assumed expensive) and abandon one's existing (familiar/custom/not-yet-expensed/etc.) switches/hubs. Assume I have a non-POE switch with 24 RJ-45 (ethernet) ports. I design a 1U box that can be mounted just

Cisco phones and Linksys SRW224P
I'm having problem powering Cisco phone's (7940 and 7905) on Linksys SRW224P switch (with PoE functionality). I have tested three phone's, one is working (7905) and two aren't (7905 and 7940). I have plugged all three phones on same switch port with same cable! Do I need to change anything in phone configuration? Is there something wrong with Linksys switch? How can I troubleshoot

Current echo status?
I've been following the list for months, and I have a working Asterisk setup, but it'd be *really* useful to me at this point if someone could summarize when Asterisk has echo problems and when it doesn't. For instance, I usually hear a far-end echo when talking on my 7940, but not when using a POTS phone plugged into a TDM400 FXO port. It doesn't seem to matter if the call
