Asterisk(OS X) & X-Lite
I'm new to Asterisk and have installed it on OS X. I am trying to use an X-Lite softphone to connect through Asterisk to FreeWorld Dialup and am not having any luck. I have looked at several settings pages at voip-info.com but have had no luck. I am on a school network which I assume has some security but the particulars are unknown as they are not very helpful. It is necessary to

Network issue
Hi Stephen, Thanks again for getting back to me, Ivan Krylov responded also and suggested windows binaries and I must confess I was only familiar with installing from files via the package sources (apart from the conventional install.packages method), so the solution was as simple as installing via the binaries. Thanks again, best wishes, James From: stephen sefick <ssefick at gmail.com>

Powell's unconstrained derivative-free nonlinear least squares routine, VA05AD
I have used Mike Powell's optimization routine (VA05AD) from the Harwell Subroutine Library (HSL) for more than 20 years. It is no exaggeration to say that it has helped make my career (thanks Mike). I recently learned that I am not alone in this respect - apparently it still has a loyal following in all sorts of fields! It is an exceedingly fine piece of software - fast, reliable and easy to

joint estimation of two poisson equations
Dear list members, Is there a package somewhere for jointly estimating two poisson processes? I think the closest I've come is using the "SUR" option in the Zelig package (see below), but when I try the "poisson" option instead of the "SUR" optioin I get an error (error given below, and indeed, reading the documentation of the Zelig package, I get the impression

Hi Stephen, Thanks very much for getting back to me. My problem is described below. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, James Hi, Sorry for bothering you because I know that your time is voluntary, but I would really appreciate some help. I work in a hospital in part of Ireland?s national health service, a service which was struck by a massive cyber attack a couple of years ago. Since

minimization using Powell's method without derivative
Good evening! I have a multi-dimensional minimization problem whose gradient is pretty hard to code. I tried Nelder and Mead method implemented in function optim and it does not work well. I also tried the quasi Newton method in optim using difference as approximate derivative. It does not work well either. I just went through Numerical Recipes book. The book discusses another method without

Non-GPL packages for R
Subject: Non-GPL packages for R Packages that are not licensed in a way that permits re-distribution on CRAN are frequently a source of comment and concern on R-help and other lists. A good example of this problem is the Rdonlp2 package that has caused a lot of annoyance for a number of optimization users in R. They are also an issue for efforts like Dirk Eddelbuettel's cran2deb. trouble adding to database (stringify_keys)
I''m brand new to rails and am trying to build a simple ajax email collection form. It''s just a coming soon sort of thing where the user can enter his email address in the field, hit submit, and the ajax form dumps the email into the database and says "success" unless the email is blank or not unique in which case it says "failure." The trouble is, no

References verifying accuracy of R for basic statistical calculations and tests
Do you know of any references that verify the accuracy of R for basic statistical calculations and tests. The results of these studies should indicate that R results are the same as the results of other statistical packages to a certain number of decimal places on some benchmark calculations. FLAC status
Hi, How's the testing going? I compressed 194 individual .wav files (totaling 8.54GB) which contained tracks ripped from many varied albums. I unflacced them and compared their md5 signature with the same from the original .wav. They were all perfect. I didn't use the -V option just in case of any chance of mis-reporting. I hope to test it with the complete collection of ~41GB

problem with "dynformula" from "plm" package [RE-POST]
Hello list, I'm following the paper (http://www.jstatsoft.org/v27/i02/paper) on how to use "plm" to run panel regressions, and am having trouble with what I believe should be something very basic. When I run the command (p.9 in the paper): R> dynformula(emp~wage+capital,log=list(capital=FALSE,TRUE),lag=list(emp=2,c(2,3)),diff=list(FALSE,capital=TRUE)) I see: emp ~ wage +
