Lost ogg sync using jspeex
Hi I am getting lost ogg sync exception when I tried to decompress a speex stream. I am using the following program for both compressing as well as decompressing. I am just planning to test how jspeex works. // File AudioCapture.java import javax.sound.sampled.spi.*; import javax.sound.sampled.*; import org.xiph.speex.spi.*; import java.util.*; import java.net.*; import java.io.*; public

simulating outcomes - categorical distribution (?)
Hi, I am simulating an event that has 15 possible outcomes and I have a vector 'pout' that gives me the probability of each outcome - different outcomes have different probabilities. Does anyone know a simple way of simulating the outcome of my event? If my event had only two possible outcomes (0/1) I would pick a uniform random number between 0 and 1 and use it to choose between the two

Slow performance with many 3D games
Lots of 3D games such as Team Fortress 2, Audiosurf or Stalker have very low performance in comparison to running on the same computer on Windows. What can I do to improve it? What developers have still to implement to fully support 3D rendering?

bivariate linear interpolation
Hi, I have three matrices (X,Y,P) with the same dimension. The X,Y grid is regular and I want to perform linear interpolation to pick out certain points. In matlab appropriate call is something like Pout=interp2(X,Y,P,Xout,Yout, method="linear") where Xout and Yout are the locations where I want the Pout data (typically a different grid). (Scipy has this routine in

JSpeex help
I am not sure if this is right place to ask for help on jspeex or can some one suggest. I have tried on jspeex sourceforge.net page. I am trying to use Pcm2SpeexAudioInputStream by creating it from tdl which received pcm_signed audio data as follows: AudioFormat format = new AudioFormat (AudioFormat.Encoding.PCM_SIGNED, 8000, 16, 1, 2, 8000, true); DataLine.Info targetInfo = new DataLine.Info

graphics device updating (PR#1189)
Hi problem: plot(xxx) results in the graphics device window adding the axes values for what ever xxx is but failing to actually add lines or produce the plot until the consol window is activated and moved over the graphics window. The graphics window then shows what has been plotted. This started happening 4 days ago, up until that time plot(xxx) would produce the plot on the graphics device

Vegan(ordistep) error: Error in if (aod[1, 5] <= Pin) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed
I am getting the following erro rmessage in ordistep. I have a number of similarly structured datasets using ordistep in a loop, and the message only occurs for some of the datasets. I cannot include a reproducible sample - the specific datasets where this is occur ing are fairly large and there are several pcnm's in the rhs of the formula. thanks for any pointers that may allow me to

JSpeex help
Hi Sanjiv, There does indeed appear to be some trouble with the Javasound SPI encoder (the SPI decoder works well). I am working on it, and hope to have a fix soon. In the mean time, you can use the encoder outside of JavaSound, that one works well (see the command line encoder as example code of how to implement it). sincerely Marc Gimpel Head of research Wimba <p>On

More scp changes
If you've applied my previous scp patch with the tempfile options and the erase option, here's a diff that tweaks it a bit more. Previously I had decided to use getcwd() in a certain local-to-local special case (that needs to use scp rather than regular cp). This was because spawing scp via ssh resets the current directory. This patch choose to forego that in favor of a simpler

R logistic regression - comparison with SPSS
Dear R-list members, I have been a user of SPSS for a few years and quite new to R. I read the documentation and tried samples but I have some problems to obtain results for a logistic regression under R. The following SPSS script LOGISTIC REGRESSION vir /METHOD = FSTEP(LR) d007 d008 d009 d010 d011 d012 d013 d014 d015 d016 d017 d018 d069 d072 d073 /SAVE = PRED COOK SRESID

Different LLRs on multinomial logit models in R and SPSS
Hello, after calculating a multinomial logit regression on my data, I compared the output to an output retrieved with SPSS 18 (Mac). The coefficients appear to be the same, but the logLik (and therefore fit) values differ widely. Why? The regression in R: set.seed(1234) df <- data.frame( "y"=factor(sample(LETTERS[1:3], 143, repl=T, prob=c(4, 1, 10))), "a"=sample(1:5,

ProxyCommand that returns a socket
Hello, My usage of ProxyCommand just calls the nc utility with various parameters. That in turn after the initial setup just copies copies the data from the network socket to stdin/stdout. This useless coping can be avoided if ssh has an option to receive the socket from the proxy command. I suppose it can improve network error reporting as ssh would talk directly to the network socket rather

sshd gets stuck: select() in packet_read_seqnr waits indefinitely
Dear OpenSSH Portable sshd developers, I'm having a problem where sshd login sessions are occasionally (as often as once a day) getting stuck indefinitely. I enabled debug messages and got a backtrace of a stuck sshd, and I think I've found the bug. I wanted to run it by the list once before filing. sshd version: OpenSSH_4.2p1 FreeBSD-20050903, OpenSSL 0.9.7e-p1 25 Oct 2004
