using filter while Reading files -
Dear R'sians.. I apologize if this topic has been beaten to death and hope that hawks don't pounce on me! Could you please suggest an efficient way to filter rows from 500+ text files (some with 30000+ rows with multiple section table headers) residing in several folders? I guess probably "scan" is the fastest way to scan a file, but, I noticed it sometimes takes a long time when re...

[LLVMdev] clarification to copyright section of developer policy
Hi All, I updated the copyright section of the developer policy: http://llvm.org/docs/DeveloperPolicy.html#copyright This change doesn't affect any llvm policies, it just makes the developer policy reflect reality. The previous version (archived here: http://llvm.org/releases/2.7/docs/DeveloperPolicy.html#copyright) used to claim that all copyright was assigned to the university of

[LLVMdev] clarification to copyright section of developer policy
...ince neither of these are really interesting goals for the project, > having distributed copyright is not a problem. Not currently, but project goals do change over time. (I don't think the "hunt down violators" aspect is relevant at all; any contributor should have authority to pounce on violators. At least that's how German Urheberrecht works, AFAIK.) Regards, Jo

TLS errors when vodafone connecting to dovecot server.
...underbird has no problems with using TLS against this server and I'm not entirely sure if dovecot (or openssl ) is generating the message or if it is something being passed from the remote end. I've had a look around but not found anything on the web pages. PPPoE/ADSL configuration questions.
...e. It also should handle default route setting when the system boots, and do the initial setting of the /etc/resolv.conf file. We will not be using the adsl package firewalling/NAT as we have our own procedures for this. This seems reasonably straightforward, but I know Murphy is always ready to pounce as soon as I assume anything. Is adsl-setup and its associated programs the best way to handle this on a CentOS box? I think that the WAN interface will appear as ppp0 when the system is running. When we move the system to the T1, is it sufficient to edit the ifcfg-ppp0 script setting ONBOOT=no...

support of SMBus on ICH3
Hello all, I have problems with enabling support for SMBus on STABLE. My motherboard is ICH3 (82801CA). As suggested in LINT I added 3 lines to my kernel config: device smbus device ichsmb device smb But after compiling, installing and rebooting /dev/smb[01] are not available and no changes in kernel startup messages either. So I

Boonex Dolphin PHP script is SCAM! Beware!
...my access to any support channels available on their site. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME Their sales gimick is to suck you in with the "Free Version". Then you look at their forums and think you will be able to get some support but after you pay, their Premium Members will pounce you and the first thing you want to do is go buy a Premium Membership so they can stop calling you newb etc. But don't get sucked in. They just want you to spend that money and you will never see your $20 again..or your $5...or your $39. I am very frustrated because I have received absolutely...

New Module app_perl
I just made my first 2 modules for asterisk (The 1st one is depriciated already). I was annoyed that i couldn't get GotoIf to take any expressions besides a boolean then i made a module to mimic gotoif and parse a few expressions like (${var} > 12) exten => 1,1,gotoif_expr,${var} > 12:1|4:1|5 Then I immediatly obseleted it with this new embedded perl module that lets you

Mongrel stops responding after period of inactivity
Hi I posted this to the Ruby on Rails Talk group but I thought I''d post it here too as it''s probably a more appropriate group. Hope this is ok. I''m running a 2-instance Mongrel cluster behind Apache 2.2.4 with Rails 1.2.3. If no requests are received by the application for several hours (this usually happens overnight) then Mongrel stops responding and no requests are

Problem with data.frames
Hi, I just encountered a problem in R that may easily be fixed: If one uses attach for a data.frame e.g. 10000 times and forgets detach, then R gets incredibly slow (less then 10% of the original speed). My system: platform powerpc-apple-darwin6.0 arch powerpc os darwin6.0 system powerpc, darwin6.0 status major 1 minor 6.1 year 2002

List tips for new subscribers <--sorry for 2 nd post, missed this.

Mmm, I (respectfully) disagree. One of the unstated objectives of mechanisms like this list is to evangelize the platform. Obviously, we all want it to do well. You can only do that by creating
