Possibile rsync --link-dest or --compare-dest bug
Hi all, I have just migrated my tooling from version 2.6.9 to 3.0.0. Unfortunately my script generated an error message during the execution. Because this command was working perfectly in the previous version I suspect this could be a bug. This is the command that I am executing: rsync -av --link-dest=20080313/ --compare-dest=/data/20080313/ 20080313/ /data/20080314/ It just

Hello, I'm still testing PHP5 bindings and I could'nt find a way to delete all documents from a DB without deleting other informations stored in the DB such as synonyms. Since the process of adding synonyms is time consuming, I would like to use the same DB but restart my test without any document in the DB, is this possibile? Authenticating users over samba

I would like to authenticate also linux users using the samba, because I do not want to copy passwd, group, shadow each time I add a user, or even add the user on each PC. I do not use LDAP a do not know NIS. Is it possible to use samba for such a thing? Any tips? Thanks...

Can ZFS simply concatenate LUNs (eg no RAID0)?
Hi, I do have a disk array that is providing striped LUNs to my Solaris box. Hence I''d like to simply concat those LUNs without adding another layer of striping. Is this possibile with ZFS? As far as I understood, if I use zpool create myPool lun-1 lun-2 ... lun-n I will get a RAID0 striping where each data block is split across all "n" LUNs. If that''s

Rsync temporary file name
Hi list, I have some questions on how rsync names the temporary files it create during a file transfer. It is my understanding that temporary files are name .<filename>.ABCDEF, where "ABCDEF" is a random 6-chars alphanumeric string. First question: it is correct to say that the random aphanumeric string is _always_ 6 chars long? Second question: it is possibile to define a

Windows -> Samba migration
Hello. At a site I've got a domain with only one DC, which is Windows 2012. This OS will be soon out of support and must be replaced. The replacement will be Windows 2022 standard, but, for reason I won't dwell into, it shulud not be a DC. Is it possibile to migrate this domain to a Samba DC, then join the new server as a member? Will Samba 4.16 do? Basically, I would: _ follow this
