Booting disk images with syslinux?
Is it possable to boot a diskimage with syslinux? So often I run into bios upgrade disks images or can easily create a disk image and would like an easy way to just boot these images. I know isolinux does this and I vagely remember using it to make a bootable windows 95 cd back in the day. It worked to. It would be nice if I could just copy the disk image to a usbstick and use syslinux to boot

speex encoding
I am encoding audio with quality=0 (2150 bps) and get the expected 43 bits per packet (every 20 ms). However, in my limited testing I notice that the last 3 bits never change, seeming to indicate that the audio is fully encoded in 40 bits. It is important in my application that the audio is compressed as much as possable for transmission over a communication system. My question is, is it

curious behavior
Howdy People, I have a small problem with my redhat9-samba3.05 setup. I have various shares which have access to them by valid user = @unixgroup Some of the users in any particular group can get access whilst others cant. The curious thing is that this setup worked happily for some months and then, suddenly, it doesn't. I am now forced to list the users indivdually . I am open to ideas .

Large scale Samba installations
Hello Samba folks- I'm currently in the position of trying to convince my IT management that using Samba to provide SMB services to our NT client base is a Good Thing. Our client/server situation is as follows: o An HA cluster of two quad-cpu (400MHz) Sun Enterprise servers, with IP address takeover on failover. o About 1000 Windows NT clients connecting via SMB o
