samba on ZFS
I don't believe that ZFS on FreeBSD supports acltype=posixacl and sa-based xattrs. For the record, the latest version of samba that I've been successfully able to compile on FreeBSD 10.3 is Samba 4.5.5. permission/acl troubles
Hi list, Since I've upgraded from samba 3.0.23c to 3.0.25c my ACL's don't work as expected anymore. I'm not sure where the problem is, however. The symptoms are simple: with 3.0.23c, I could grant and revoke user, group and world write access to and from files in a share. With 3.0.25c, I can't do that anymore. When I deselect group or world read access and apply the

libvirt-3.0.0 When attemping to create a virtual machine I receive the error "error : Failed to switch root mount into slave mode: Permission denied”. I’m attempting to run qemu/libvirt/virt-manager in an Arch Linux lxc container on a Ubuntu 16.04 host. The host uses zfs for its containers. The arch container is set up as a priveleged container. I do already have kvm/qemu/libvirt working

Effect of setting "store dos attributes = no" in Samba 4.1.11
Thanks for your help and replies. Yes, I meant "store dos attributes". It's pretty clear now that I need to keep the parameter 'store dos attributes=no' since 1) the server is an AD member server and 2) the map* parameters don't do the right thing under ZFS / NFSV4 ACLs. I've read that the steps Klaus Hartnegg listed resolves the issue on ZFS on Linux; however, I

I see "everyone permission" at windows security even i didn't add.
I created a share with the config I gave below. As you can see in pictures I have two Everyone at "Permission" and one Everyone at "Share" section. These permissions comes when i create a share.. One of them is definitely related to samba because it is in the "share" section, but I guess the other two permits are comes with "posix acl". But i did not add

Hi Rowland, I see this in the ZFS props, if that’s related, you might be referring to something in ext3 that im not aware of at the moment. pool/myshare aclinherit restricted default pool/myshare acltype off default So, if you heard that I was going to use

sysvol acl's broken beyond repair
...l ntacl sysvolreset It finishes with no output or errors, but if I run sysvolcheck once again- the same problem is still there, not to mention that gpo's are still not working. My samba version is 4.2.0, the setup is a bit complicated since a use samba in a lxc container on a zfs fs (although posixacls are supported and common tasks such as domain provision, logon, dns and even gpo upon first modifications work) How can I fix this error or should I rebuild my domain from scratch? Thanks in advance!

Samba 4 classicupgrade: Error converting string to value for line:"CurrentVersion"
Hello, I've seen this upgrade error posted before: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2013-January/171022.html but either there is a different issue or I'm misreading the post. Basically when I run the classicupgrade (samba3 to 4) on a test machine, I get the following (the full debug output will be at the end of my post): ....... key added: key=CurrentVersion, key=Windows

After setting "security.privileged true" it was happy. So I guess
