virtual domain
we are currently using vm-pop3d to implement virtual domains. But due to some locking problem in vm-pop3d, we want to test the possibility to change to dovecot. Currently, in vm-pop3d, the passwd file is located in /etc/virtual/domain1.com/passwd /etc/virtual/domain2.com/passwd and the passwd format is: user: md5 encrpted password and the email is store in /var/spool/virtual/domain1.com/user

nfs and pop3
Hi, I'm working with dovecot 1.0.beta2 for pop3 only and have set index=memory, so no indizes are created on the disk. pop3_uidl_format is set to %f. The maildirs are located on an nfs-share. So generally, this setup is very similar to what qmail-popup and qmail-pop3d does. However, everytime I'm switching from qmail-pop3d to dovecot, the system load increases from less than 2 to more

Slow performance
Hello again, We have hit some performance problem today in one of our clusters. The performance suddenly drop from the normal performance (about 30Mbytes/s), read/write, to a few Kbytes/s (about 200Kbytes/s), read only, for a while, and as sudden as it started, it backs to the normal read/write performance, cycling randomly. When the "read only" occurs on one node, the other shows only

Logwatch
Having FC3 systems and utilizing Dovecot, I have come to rely on some of the information I get from the daily logwatch run. Logwatch, by default, doesn't properly recognize dovecot's information in the messages file, but it is easy to tweak. The patch below will give you some statistics regarding POP3 and IMAP usage. I believe I grabbed all of the differences in the unified diff

UIDL and namespaces after qmail-pop3d and BincIMAP
Hello, I migrated qmail-pop3d and BincIMAP to Dovecot in the past, and I could always tweak the settings a little to match what old services used to provide, namely namespaces (separator /, prefix INBOX/) and pop3_uidl_format (%f). This time I'm migrating to a large mail system which has its configuration set differently and there's no changing it. pop3_uidl_format = %08Xu%08Xv
