kernel BUG at drivers/block/virtio_blk.c:172!
...see this oops when I convert the
same block device to ext4 and mount it. In this setup, the KVM guest
has a virtio block device that has a LVM2 PV on it with an LV on it
that contains the filesystem.
Let me know if you need any other info to chase this down.
Thanks!

[PATCH] make pam service a settable option
...e stacks without having to have a separate
binary.
One final note -- C programming is not my forte, so please look at this
critically and let me know if anything should be changed. If you accept
this for inclusion, I'll make the manpage updates as well.
Thanks!

Creating initrd for Dom-0 on LVM
...nicely on regular partitions and using LVM
for the guest domains. As
Now I am looking to convert another machine (Debian) to XEN, on which
all but a /boot partitions are on LVM. The Debian mkinitrd tool is
geared toward Debian kernels and is not useful in this case. I have also
tried http://www.poochiereds.net/svn/lvm2/lvm2create_initrd, but I am
unsure as to how to configure grub, since the instructions assume the
usage of a plain distribution.
Any pointers to the creation of initrd for Dom-0 will be most helpful.
Thanks

Can SAMBA be used to map a WINDOWS directory to a UNIX SERVER (pa rticularly SOLARIS)?
Hi:
We were wondering if SAMBA can be used to make a windows share look like a
UNIX filesystem to the UNIX server? I know it works in reversre. Just
checking to see if there were new functionality I was not privy to.

Dongsu and Jeff, any of you test this variant? I think this is the last
one, at least I hope so as well...

turning up the loglevel, but it doesn't seem to be very enlightening.
In particular, the second entry seems to indicate that I need some sort
of permission bit set that is not. How do I interpret what these hex
numbers represent?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

smbclient -k works; mount -t cifs does not
I am confused (nothing new there ...). I have 2 Ubuntu 9.10 Samba
servers. I am trying to mount a share from the other (i.e., "workhorse"
is trying to mount a share on "dual-booter"). If I specify a smbmount
command with a -k option, I can mount the share:

rsync'ing large files
I'm using rsync to copy some large (>1GB) oracle datafiles. I've noticed
that sometimes it transfers some of the files twice.
Some earlier posts to this list that I saw in the archives seemed to
indicate that this is a problem with the rsync algorithm itself when
dealing with large files. Some of the mails seemed to indicate that this
can be mitigated by using larger block sizes,
