deny new connections
Hi people, I was wondering: is it possible to deny all new connections to samba, but keep the current connections working ? We have some applications running from a samba share. To update the application everybody needs to close it. Since we have almost 1000 concurrent users, 24/7, it is difficult to keep them out. My solution now is: - Communicating the downtime and provide a time

Package np update (0.30-6) adds nonparametric entropy test functionality...
Dear R users, Version 0.30-6 of the np package has been uploaded to CRAN. See http://cran.r-project.org/package=np Note that the cubature package is now required in addition to the boot package. The recent updates in 0.30-4 through 0.30-6 provides additional functionality in the form of five new functions that incorporate frequently requested nonparametric entropy-based testing methods to the

Possible bug in foreign library import of Stata datasets
...ssor Zorn's results obtained with Stata and R. I ran into some trouble with the results in Table 2. I traced the problem back to the R foreign library's data import. Observe the variable "deml" in the Stata output: table deml ---------------------- Lower of | two | POLITY | democracy | s | Freq. ----------+----------- -10.00 | 826 -9.00 | 3,829 -8.00 | 2,161 -7.00 | 6,847 -6.00 | 541 -5.00 | 451 -4.00 | 152 -3.00 | 306 -2.00 | 145 -1.00 |...

Error in read.spss() for .por files
...ts of this error (below) in read.spss() when used with a .por file. I had the same problem and in order to successfully read the file into R I downloaded spss, saved the data as .dat tab-delimited, and then used read.table(). The point is that spss successfully read the same .por data file (the Polity II data freely available from ICPSR) that R couldn't read. So, I assume this is a bug in R. > politydata<-read.spss("polityii.por") Error in read.spss("polityii.por") : error reading portable-file dictionary In addition: Warning message: Expected variable count rec...

combine_factor to empty level
ID: T8dfe471e360ac80264c6c Dear, I'm using R 2.8.1 with the package reshape version 0.8.2 . It seems that the combine_factor function has problems with combining levels to an empty level: #EXAMPLE WORKING test<-sample(c(1:10),1000,replace=T) testf<-factor(test, c(1:10), LETTERS[1:10]) table(testf, exclude=NULL) testc<-combine_factor(testf, c(1,1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2,2))

Hello all, A client of us, is thinking to migrate their actual PBX to a Cisco CallManager. We want to sell him an asterisk box to complement the Cisco PBX. I think to use asterisk as a Voicemail server (Replazing the Cisco Unity) Has asterisk all the functionalities to replace a CIsco Unity server? Which functionalities Cisco Unity has than asterisk could cover? How could asterisk complement the
