Keep the politics out, please?
With this post, I run the risk of causing more of the thing that I speak against. I still think it's important to say it. CentOS mailing list is a technical forum. It is not a political forum. Just reading a thread on bitcoins and the entire thread quickly turned into a political thread with people bitching about everything from Chase Bank to the Russians, and that's just crap. Wildly inappropriate. If you don't like Bitcoins, you should just not reply because you are...

Microsoft RTAudio
Hello Jean: Big mistake!! One of the three things that a supplier should never discuss is politics ... that's business 101. Speex may be a very good product, but we will never use it because of the politics that you espouse ... some of us out here believe strongly in the free market. And we also know that monopolies can't exist because entrepreneurs will always exploit the

Job Posting - Early stage political startup looking for advanced rubyist and/or designer
This is a shot out in the dark, but I figured it''s worth a try...especially in this job market. :) My friend and I are in the very early planning stages of a startup that will be politically focused. We intend to develop tools that will revolutionize and dominate the next generation of the politics. I am a developer with nearly 5 years of experience with Ruby & Rails and 8 years of web development experience. My partner is a soon-to-be Stanford Business Grad with experience on...

Political Spam sent through several CentOS mailing lists
The CentOS team likes to offer an apology for the political spam mails which went through our mail servers earlier today. Due to the nature of mailing list software for public discussion groups, there aren't that many security measures which can be taken to check which mails are supposed to get through and which mails aren't. Total safety can only...

How can I politely disconnect? Was: Clean way to monitor status of 'sshd' remotely?
I'm having the same issue "Eddy Geez" posted about in October, 2001 - I'm looking to figure out how to politely disconnect from openssh's sshd, such that it will either not log the connection at all or will at least not log it at fatal level. I monitor the sshd daemon on all my hosts with Netsaint's check_ssh plugin every five minutes, so there are a *lot* of these log

Being a polite client: maintaining history
Hi, folks. I''m investigating libraries to use in a rather specialized feed reader. Some of the sites I want to follow don''t have RSS feeds (or have hopelessly broken feeds) so I was already planning on using Hpricot anyway -- Mechanize is looking good, here. In my research for my project, recipe 11.16 in O''Reilly''s Ruby Cookbook references a website[1]

Solution for 1 time blast of 200, 000 recorded calls
Hi, I'm helping out with a political campaign and would like to use asterisk to blast out about 200,000 calls with a short message from the candidate. Provider: I'm thinking voipjet may be a good solution? Hardware setup: I will have access to several T-1 lines so I would just want to set up the dialers to limit the number of co...
