Win7 vs. Win10 GPO Editing
...itor on Win 7 x64.
I have modified recently this object with RSAT and GPO editor on Win 10 x64
.
If I try to edit the GPO back to Win7 I got the following error (in
french):
La ressource ? $(string.SiteDiscoveryEnableWMI) ? r?f?renc?e dans

C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\inetres.admx, ligne 34296, colonne 235
I got this error in the Group Policy Management console when displaying
settings , and also in the GP editor.
Is there an incompatibility between GPO editing on Win 7 vs Win 10 ?
Will the GPO modified on Win 10 will still apply in Win7 clients computers

...ible policies).
b) I can only modify policies based on Win10 admx files from Win10
machines (i.e. with the RSAT tools for Win10).
Are there any Samba-related implications or issues on doing that,
particularly if I follow the MS advice to store those admx files in a
central store in the SYSVOL (\PolicyDefinitions) folder?
Also, are there any implications for existing domains with e.g. Win7
clients? Is it advised to keep Win7 and Win10 in separate containers?
I remember that somebody here reported issues with his/her existing
Samba domain after having used the RSAT tools for Win10. But I am not

...central store (first) or from
local (if first not found). It might be the case, that one of the
policies templates was changed between windows 7 and windows 10 and now
windows 7 runs into errors. Your error shows that it's trying to look
for policy definition in the local store (c:\windows\PolicyDefinitions).
You can google for "central store for policy definitions" and You should
come up with tons of how-to's and specific guidelines. The basic concept
is this:
You create on Your DC inside SYSVOL PolicyDefinitions folder like in
this example:

The proper ADMX for your version of Windows are on Windows itself in
C:\windows\PolicyDefinitions. You just copy the content of the directory
(and subdirs) to your Sysvol share \Policies\PolicyDefinitions

samba4 admx centrally stored
If i wanted to add admx file (chrome) to samba4 instead of installing it on
every W10 machine managing the AD, where would i put the file.
from quick search
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-January/197298.html
it says to place it in PolicyDefinitions in sysvol, but i do not have that
folder there. Does it need to be created ?
Thanks

Missing 'security' tab
Hi,
I try to formulate the question better! :)
I’ve successfully joined an ubuntu 16.04 machine, as member server, to an active directory domain Windows server 2012 R2 following the instructions in the wiki.samba.org “Setting up Samba as a Domain Member” now I set the acls using Windows acl on a share. For that I followed the instruction in the “Setting up a Share Using Windows ACLs” in the wiki.

Now when I try to load admx files into DC2 with the command "samba-tool gpo admxload -H dc2.samdom.example.com -U SAMDOM\\Administrator" I couldn't find the PolicyDefinitions in DC2's sysvol path but I was able to see it briefly in DC1's sysvol path, I assume it disappears on the next run of rsync. Does anybody know why the admx templates would be uploaded to DC1 instead of DC2 even when I specify the -H parameter with DC2's hostname and what could I do diff...

Access denied, and other problems, trying to administer printers
...r_Trusting_the_Print_Server
You can easily figure out if this is your problem: Set up a new Win7
client without applying the updates. If you can preconfigure drivers and
connect to the printers on this machine, then MS16-087 is your problem.
You can have a look at the *.admx files in C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\
on your Windows client to figure out what registry keys the two group
policies update and manually set them using a *.reg file on each machine
or by using NT4 policies. I think this should work.
If it works, please provide me the *.reg file with the settings and I
will enhance the documentati...
