Interesting lockdep message coming out of blktap

I have split PTE locks enabled, so this is a per-page pte lock rather than the global mm one. It seems highly unlikely this is not being initialized properly in general, or every pte lock would end up triggering t...

[PATCH V2 0/2] mm/thp: Rename pmd_mknotpresent() as pmd_mkinvalid()
This series renames pmd_mknotpresent() as pmd_mkinvalid(). Before that it drops an existing pmd_mknotpresent() definition from powerpc platform which was never required as it defines it's pmdp_invalidate() through subscribing __HAVE_ARCH_PMDP_INVALIDATE. This does not create any functional change. This rename was suggested by Catalin during a previous discussion while we were trying to change

[RFC] VMI for Xen?
I''m sure everyone has seen the drop of VMI patches for Linux at this point, but just in case, the link is included below. I''ve read this version of the VMI spec and have made my way through most of the patches. While I wasn''t really that impressed with the first spec wrt Xen, the second version seems to be much more palatable. Specifically, the code inlining and

[PATCH v2 0/7] mm/hmm: more HMM clean up
Here are seven more patches for things I found to clean up. This was based on top of Christoph's seven patches: "hmm_range_fault related fixes and legacy API removal v3". I assume this will go into Jason's tree since there will likely be more HMM changes in this cycle. Changes from v1 to v2: Added AMD GPU to hmm_update removal. Added 2 patches from Christoph. Added 2 patches as

[PATCH 0 of 13] Basic infrastructure patches for a paravirtualized kernel
[ REPOST: Apologies to anyone who has seen this before. It didn't make it onto any of the lists it should have. -J ] Hi Andrew, This series of patches lays the basic ground work for the paravirtualized kernel patches coming later on. I think this lot is ready for the rough-and-tumble world of the -mm tree. For the most part, these patches do nothing or very little. The patches should

[patch 00/20] paravirt_ops updates
Hi Andi, Here's a repost of the paravirt_ops update series I posted the other day. Since then, I found a few potential bugs with patching clobbering, cleaned up and documented paravirt.h and the patching machinery. Overview: add-MAINTAINERS.patch obvious remove-CONFIG_DEBUG_PARAVIRT.patch No longer meaningful or needed. paravirt-nop.patch Clean up nop paravirt_ops functions, mainly to

[patch 00/20] XEN-paravirt: Xen guest implementation for paravirt_ops interface
This patch series implements the Linux Xen guest in terms of the paravirt-ops interface. The features in implemented this patch series are: * domU only * UP only (most code is SMP-safe, but there's no way to create a new vcpu) * writable pagetables, with late pinning/early unpinning (no shadow pagetable support) * supports both PAE and non-PAE modes * xen console * virtual block
