Submitted a patch, got pluses, what now?
Hello Rails people, I submitted a patch recently to get rid of an annoying exception raised when an AR object is created - http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/10556 , had some people review it, got some pluses... What am I supposed to do now? Can anybody advise or just review the patch and take care of the issue? Thanks! -- Best regards, Yuri Leikind --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: C...

non-character search
I need to be able to search for certain symbol characters. For example, I want the search for c++ to work. I try enclosing it in quotes, but it seems to treat C and the pluses as two separate characters to look for. Search for ++ alone seems to find documents that don''t have any pluses in them. Why would that happen? Thanks, Carl

Combining rails intrAnet and public site.
...order placement, account statements. [h]Actual Question[/h] Does anyone have any suggestion on how to accomplish this in a better way? Here are three options that I see: a) Build a separate Rails app on a web server, that will connect to the same DB that our internal app connects to. +++ Pluses: Live data - same thing that our internal apps see, i.e. orders are created in real time, inventory is depleted right away, --- Minuses: Potential security risk, duplication of code - i.e. I need to duplicate all the controllers, models, views, etc. that deal with orders....

OT: SIP vs. Skinny protocol
...et cheaper phones that run SIP, altough Cisco just came out with a 7902G for $130 US. 2. It's an open protocol and is more likely to survive long-term. What functionality do I lose by going with Skinny? Will Cisco eventually go with SIP only and I'll have to convert anyway? Any other pluses or minuses?

Should FLAC join Xiph?
...ermission from some of you, those that have contributed legally-significant (in the U.S. I think that means >10 lines of) code to libFLAC. Only the codec libraries need to be BSD; the command-line tools and plugins would remain GPL. 3. Operations would move from Sourceforge to Xiph. There are pluses and minuses, actually not so much minuses as unknowns. These are the main changes that would happen. So I ask everyone, especially libFLAC contributors, what do you think? Fair comparison
I was trying to do a little searching to see if there has even been a comparison between Asterisk and VOCAL or any of the other OSS packages? "Practical Voice Over IP using VOCAL" published by O'Reilly and Associates, attempts to make a strong case about how scalable VOCAL. Of course, considering that the book is written by the makers of VOCAL, it tends to have a one sided slant.

OT: mostly gone
Hi, folks, Well, it's ten years that I've been on this list, right when I started this job. But, it's time to move on... I'm retiring. (Yeah, that old.) So, though I'll be part time for a few months, and running CentOS at home (in spite of my manager's pushing me to do Ubuntu). This list is *so* much more useful than any of the ones I've seen for Ubuntu, or much

...trong ally in that area, with a thriving and well-recognized community. In the end, this is, by and large, your personal decision, as the primary copyright holder. Either way, I have confidence in the continued viability of FLAC. > 3. Operations would move from Sourceforge to Xiph. There are pluses and > minuses, actually not so much minuses as unknowns. I see this as a minor item; software projects move from place to place all the time. Assuming that sourceforge is willing to help to provide a smooth transition, this should be painless. > These are the main changes that would happen...

CentOS-5 Hardware Probe
I installed CentOS-5 on a test machine, a P4 1.8 Ghz Compaq Evo D510 series. This was a clean install onto a new disk drive and everything went well. After updating with YUM and installing Postgresql, Rails for Ruby, Firefox-2 and Thunderbird I shutdown and restarted the system several times without incident. I then pulled the CD-ROM and replaced it with an LG-DVD DVD-RAM/RW device. I also
