Running stats on individual data.frames from the split() function list
...doubt there is a more sophisticated way to obtain this information from
the outset, but I'm not yet familiar with it.

ordering dataframe for strata() (PR#13830)
...sures that are not sorted in
order the run will fail on a given stratum. Ordering the dataframe
prior to using strata() eliminates this problem.
