Plop Boot Manager quit working with 5.10
I have updated syslinux in Parted Magic's test version to the 5.10 release.
With 4.06 I booted plop like this:
LINUX /boot/plpbt/plpbt.bin
Now it says /boot/plpbt/plpbt.bin... ok
Booting kernel failed: Invalid argument
Other "extras" like IPXE, HDT, memtest86+, chntpw, Super Grub Disk, etc...
all work with 5.10. Revert to 4.06 and plop works again.
Is this a problem with syslinux

[PATCH]: ifplop.c32: COM32 module for detection of PLoP USB boot-loader
..., OHCI and EHCI)) to BIOSes that don't have USB BIOS support.
2. It can also upgrade USB 1.1 speed to USB 2.0 speed if you have USB 2.0
controllers in your mobo.
3. Some BIOSes (like mine) have a 128GiB (137GB) limit for USB drives
(internal hard drives don't have the 128GiB problem). Using PLoPs USB
capabilities, allow me to access the whole drive.
In case 1, ifplop.c32 won't be very useful.
In case 2, it will be. You can let PLoP boot by default when you boot (USB
1.1 speed) your USB drive. Selecting 'USB' from the PLoP submenu will boot
your USB drive (with Syslinux) again....

Windows 7 client trying to authenticate with windows machine name
Hello there.
I'm having an issue authenticating a Windows 7 (not in a domain) against a Samba 4.1.17 (debian Jessie). It appears that the client is trying to authenticate using with it's machine name and not the user filled in the auth form. I'm using security = user and I can confirm that the share is working with Win8. Could you check my conf & the error and share me your

My cuent understanding is as follows: HPA is using the label "ancient
kernel" for any kernel that has a hard-coded load address and that

Bootable CD for booting of USB HDD
Hi,
I bought a USB hard drive, got Mandriva installed on it, and made it bootable
with extlinux. Works great on machines that can boot from USB. I also created
a boot cd using the instructions in the wiki. This is working too.
The only problem with the boot cd is that I had to copy the kernel, initrd,
etc. to the cd. This means that whenever I install a new kernel I'll have to
create and

Something weird about pdbedit.
Hi !
I'm running a samba domain controler under rhel 5. It's version
3.0.33-3.7.el5.
I've also installed a ldap server to store users and groups and so on.
When I try a pdbedit -v david, I get the following :
Unix username: david
NT username: david
Account Flags: [U ]
User SID: S-1-5-21-215069222-2822928016-2390355089-1016

MEMDISK-ISO: found another non-working ISO
Hi Shao Miller,
I found another ISO that doesn't work with MEMDISK-ISO.
It is the ISO of the PloP bootmanager.
It is a ISO which uses floppy emulation.
When I boot it with MEMDISK-ISO (run from Syslinux), my PC instantly reboots.
When I extract the floppy image from the ISO and boot this file with MEMDISK, it works fine.
Grub4dos iso emulation works fine for this iso.
When using Grub4dos

MEMDISK El Torito Emulation
A very special thanks to H. Peter for finding the time to [at least
partially, if not wholly] scrutinize and merge the El Torito emulation
code for MEMDISK!
I'd like to ask that those who've previously used the stale MEMDISK-ISO
switch to this latest[1] MEMDISK proper and report any failures.
Gert, I believe this version addresses the PloP .ISO trouble you
reported. Could you

install question
Dear list,
I'm trying to build a dovecot-2.0.11 package for our systems, and so I would like to install it to a
temporary directory. But when I use "gmake DESTDIR=/tmp/build install", instead of binaries, it's
wrapper scripts that get installed for dovecot, doveconf and doveadm. When I install to the default
location all is well. Does anybody know how how to install to a temp

Spec failing [Possible Bug with kind_of? and instance_of?]
I have a spec which is failing, but I just can''t say why. Maybe I''m

Here is the pastie of the results & the spec:
