wine for the mac?
Still, I stand corrected. After reading the site FAQ, I found out that Plex86 _won't_ run on a mac. It is only good for booting i86 based OSes _on_ an i86 based *n?x Bochs is his best bet yet of running wine on a mac. Emulation vs Virtualization
.../ CUPS do work properly. I've installed both bochs & codeweaver wine in Mandrake (neither of which are usable by other than hackers in FreeBSD/ OpenBSD) but haven't been able to get any Windows applications to install let alone run. Does anyone have experience with FreeMware / VmWare / plex86 / etc ?? and can recommend something that might do the job ??

AutoCAD 14 with wine... anyone have any luck with this?
It looks bad from the (possibly outdated) list on the winehq web site. I am also extremely interested in running r14 on Wine or possibly some other emulator. Any suggestions other than WINE??? HVM - BIOS serial console redirection?
I realized this is probably better suited for the devel list.. basically, is there any way in the BOCHS bios to enable ''Serial Console Redirection'', where you see the BIOS contents over the serial line? Windows 2003''s ''Emergency Management Services'' console (which allows you to do installs and fix stuff over the serial line) requires this to

theoretical question
i have heard some stories from some people who claim to have been able to set up a partition in linux and install win98 via wine and then having it fire up. i know wine isnt designed for this purpose but apparantly it has been done....who knows, maybe someone is pulling my leg. i'm just wondering if there is anyone out there who has pulled this off and if so how did they go about doing it. i

WINE game compatability and "DOSe"?
After using a dual-boot system for a while (Win98 + Mandrake) on my home machine, I've decided to go for Linux only on my new (well, used) notebook (Latitude PII 266 w/ 128 MB RAM). In any case, I don't really use any Windows programs except a few games (well, I use office tools and programming environments, but there are plenty of good ones in Linux as is), so I'm looking into using

Wine securityflaw.
Hello again, (FYI, I took the liberty to change the topic since I started the former thread "How is Win/Dos syscalls implemented in Wine?" which I feel has gone a little bit off-topic) I had some more thoughts on the issue... I believe most wine users trust wine not to touch anything outside of its configured drive space. Malicious Linux/Unix syscalls could be embedded in windows
