Installing on Hardware RAID - Adaptec 7890/7860
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to install the CentOS 4.4 Server CD on old hardware. The
hardware is a Dell PowerEdge 2300 with Adaptec 7890 and 7860
controllers. It's the first time I've done a Linux install with
hardware RAID.
However, I'm having trouble getting CentOS (as well as Fedora Core 6)
to detect the SCSI hard drives. When it comes to the part where you

beginner resources for CentOS
I'm looking for a good online (or even a good) "how to be a sysadmin" guide
for beginners geared towards CentOS users.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

CentOS Based Infromational Document
For those of you who are either part of the secret cabal, or are otherwise
keeping track of it, there is a new version available.
The current version of the cryptex is version 3.1. It's changed rather

HP (compaq) RAID - How to get alerts?
Hi All,
Background: I have HP RAID setups (Smart Array 5, shows up as
/dev/cciss/c0d0) on my DL380s, and they run great with CentOS. I have
had a drive failure (HDD lights up amber), so I pulled the HDD, replaced
it and the RAID controller rebuilt the array in a jiffy - no probs.
My question: I cant find anything in the logs to alert me that a drive
failed - this makes sense since the RAID

CentOSPlus kernel - Request for input
OK,
I am building the new CentOSPlus kernel for i386/x86_64.
It is based on the 2.6.9-42.EL kernel that will be part of CentOS-4.4.
Currently it has all the features of the older plus kernels and all the
items turned on by the upstream provider in their main kernel ... except
that XFS is being removed from this kernel (and added by a standalone
module that has newer sgi code for xfs).
I am not
