Some questions to GLMM
Hello all R-user I am relative new to the R-environment and also to GLMM, so please don't be irritated if some questions don't make sense. I am using R 2.0.0 on Windows 2000. I investigated the occurrence of insects (count) in different parts of different plants (plantid) and recorded as well some characteristics of the plant parts (e.g. thickness). It is an unbalanced design with 21 plants with approx 25 parts each. Preference of the insects for a certain characteristic is usually unimodal. As far as I understood, I have to use a model with random intercepts and...

data grouping and fitting mixed model with lme function
...lone planted to one of 4 blocks. Phenotypes were collected from each clone for 3 consecutive years. I have genotypes of plants. I need to relate phenotype to genotype.   2) I am reading data from a file with “read.table” function. Then grouping data as: my.Data<-groupedData( phenotype ~ Block | PlantID, data = as.data.frame( Data ) )   3) I want to fit Genotype + Year + Genotype:Year as fixed effect. Block + PlantID + Block.PlantID as random effect.   I feel my data grouping is incorrect as model fitting do not work properly.   Any help regarding data grouping and model fitting is deeply appre...

Mixed model question
...tor group and their interaction as fixed effects, and treatment nested within plant, and its interaction with population and pollinator group, as random factors. In SAS terminology, the model looks like this: proc mixed data=flwfunc.visitflower covtest method=reml; class site pollclass treatm plantid; model time = site|pollclass flwinflor / chisq; random treatm site*treatm pollclass*treatm / subject=plantid; lsmeans site pollclass site*pollclass; run; I've been successfully trying lm, but I think is not suitable for random effects. Thus, I've tried lme, but no success when defining...
